A positive moral loss (2)
Hello
everyone,
How
are you doing on this day? I hope well and bubbling in the Lord. We thank God
for His marvelous lovingkindness and tendermercies, and His mercies which
endure forever.
Primary Text
“Why,
the very fact of your having lawsuits with one another at all is a defect (a
defeat, an evidence of positive moral loss for you). Why not rather let
yourselves suffer wrong and be deprived of what is your due? Why not rather be
cheated (defrauded and robbed)? But [instead it is you] yourselves who wrong
and defraud, and that even your own brethren [by so treating them]!” 1
Corinthians 6v7-8 (AMP)
As
believers, it is good to turn the spotlight on ourselves, asking - how am I
behaving towards my fellow brethren? It is easy to see the wrong others do, but
is there a log in our own eyes while we try to remove the speck in that of
others? Are we acting in the way that God will have us act – not in a
comparatively better way as regards to this fellow or that fellow. Are you
wronging and defrauding your brother? Are you the one who is seeking “justice”
and refusing under any circumstance to be cheated by one you call your brother?
Are you treating your brethren as God would have you treat him or her?
Supplementary Text
“But
I say to you who are listening now to Me: [in order to heed, make it a practice
to] love your enemies, treat well (do good to, act nobly toward) those who
detest you and pursue you with hatred, Invoke blessings upon and pray for the
happiness of those who curse you, implore God’s blessing (favor) upon those who
abuse you [who revile, reproach, disparage, and high-handedly misuse you]. To
the one who strikes you on the jaw or cheek, offer the other jaw or cheek also;
and from him who takes away your outer garment, do not withhold your
undergarment as well.” Luke 6v27-29 (AMP)
Prayer
Heavenly
Father, we thank You for Your Word and Your Spirit. We thank You for the church
of God and pray that brotherly love will continue to abound in our midst in
Jesus name, amen.
