Known of God
Hello
everyone,
How
are you doing on this day? I hope well and bubbling in the Lord. Beloved, are
you known of God?
Primary Text
“But
if any one loves God truly [with affectionate reverence, prompt obedience, and
grateful recognition of His blessing], he is known by God [recognized as worthy
of His intimacy and love, and he is owned by Him].” 1 Corinthians 8v3 (AMP)
Beloved,
do you love God? Do you fear Him? Does He have first place in your life or are
there other things that are crowding out His love? For example, are you in love
with the world and the things of the world? 1 John 2v15-17 says “Do not love or
cherish the world or the things that are in the world. If anyone loves the
world, love for the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world – the
lust of the flesh [craving for sensual gratification] and the lust of the eyes
[greedy longings of the mind] and the pride of life [assurance in one’s own
resources or in the stability of earthly things] – these do not come from the
Father but are from the world [itself]. And the world passes away and
disappears, and with it the forbidden cravings (the passionate desires, the
lust) of it; but he who does the will of God and carries out His purposes in
his life abides (remains) forever.” Indeed, if you love the world, the Bible
tells us that the love of the Father is not in you. Are you in love with money?
Are you relying on or serving something else – your job, children, parents,
friends - apart from God and seeing them as your provider? “No servant is able to
serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he
will stand by and be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve
God and mammon (riches, or anything in which you trust and on which you rely).
Now the Pharisees, who were covetous and lovers of money, heard all these
things [taken together], and they began to sneer at and ridicule and scoff at
Him.” Luke 16v13-14 (AMP).
Supplementary Text
“You
[are like] unfaithful wives [having illicit love affairs with the world and
breaking your marriage vow to God]! Do you not know that being the world’s
friend is being God’s enemy? So whoever chooses to be a friend of the world
takes his stand as an enemy of God.” James 4v4 (AMP)
Prayer
Father,
we thank You for Your Word. We pray that for any unfaithfulness to You, that
You will have mercy and forgive us. We mortify by Your Spirit every lust of the
flesh, lust of the eyes and pride of life that may be lurking in our members.
Please wash us clean with the blood of Jesus and grant us the grace to love You
and make You and only You our God, in Jesus name, amen.
