Knowledge

Hello everyone,

How are you doing on this day? I hope well and bubbling in the Lord. We thank God for this day that He has made and this new week He has given unto us. Blessed be His holy name.

Primary Text
“In this matter, then, of eating food offered to idols, we know that an idol is nothing (has no real existence) and that there is no God but one. For although there may be so-called gods, whether in heaven or on earth, as indeed there are many of them, both of gods and of lords and masters, Yet for us there is [only] one God, the Father, Who is the Source of all things and for Whom we [have life], and one Lord, Jesus Christ, through and by Whom are all things and through and by Whom we [ourselves exist]. Nevertheless, not all [believers] possess this knowledge. But some, through being all their lives until now accustomed to [thinking of] idols [as real and living], still consider the food [offered to an idol] as that sacrificed to an [actual] god; and their weak consciences become defiled and injured if they eat [it].” 1 Corinthians 8v4-7 (AMP)

Believers come from all over the world, with different cultures, backgrounds, upbringing and so on, and sometimes, it is hard to break away from these traditions or cultures. In 1 Corinthians 8v1, Paul had acknowledged that concerning food offered to idols, “we all have knowledge” about this issue. He then went on to explain that truly idols are nothing, and there is only one God. But in verse 7, he raises the issue that not everyone however possesses this knowledge. Some people still think of idols as being real, and with that knowledge, if they eat food that have been sacrificed to these idols, their consciences may become defiled. What kind of knowledge do you have based on your past, upbringing, background, and culture that has shaped the way you view certain things in life? How does it differ or go in line with the Word of God?

Supplementary Text
“[For I always pray to] the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, that He may grant you a spirit of wisdom and revelation [of insight into mysteries and secrets] in the [deep and intimate] knowledge of Him,” Ephesians 3v17 (AMP)

Prayer
Our heavenly Father, we thank You for who You are. You are good, great, mighty, and Your understanding is past finding out. We pray for the Spirit of wisdom and revelation so that we may grow in the knowledge of You. Father, help us to see things through Your eyes, in Jesus name we pray, amen.
