What counts!
Hello
everyone,
How
are you doing on this day? I hope well and bubbling in the Lord. We thank God
for His goodness, faithfulness, lovingkindness, tendermercies and His plans for
our lives. May God’s complete plan for your life be fulfilled in Jesus name,
amen.
Primary Text
“So,
brethren, in whatever station or state or condition of life each one was when
he was called, there let him continue with and close to God.” 1 Corinthians
7v24 (AMP)
Imagine
a situation when the gospel of Christ by people in Corinth and they gave their
lives to Christ just as we too are doing today, but different questions begin
to arise. I am now born again, but I am a servant, what does that mean? I am
uncircumcised or circumcised; of a particular culture, a certain social status,
I am male or I am female, what does that mean? Paul writes “Was anyone at the
time of his summons [from God] already circumcised? Let him not seek to remove
the evidence of circumcision. Was anyone at the time [God] called him
uncircumcised? Let him not be circumcised? For circumcision is nothing and
counts for nothing, neither does uncircumcision, but [what counts is] keeping
the commandments of God. Everyone should remain after God calls him in the
station or condition of life in which the summons found him. Were you a slave
when you were called? Do not let that trouble you. But if you are able to gain
your freedom, avail yourself of the opportunity. For he who as a slave was
summoned in [to union with] the Lord is a freedman of the Lord, just as he who
was free when he was called is a bond servant of Christ (the Messiah). You were
bought with a price [purchased with a preciousness and paid for by Christ];
then do not yield yourselves up to become [in your own estimation] slaves to me
[but consider yourselves slaves to Christ].” 1 Corinthians 7v18-23 (AMP).
Beloved, I don’t know what position or condition you are in life, or where you
were at before you were born again, don’t let it trouble you. But one litmus
test to ask yourself is am I keeping the commandments of God? Even if I am
desiring other things, am I walking in line with His Word and in obedience to
His Spirit? Does He have His way in my life? Do I consider myself a slave to
Christ? That is what counts.
Supplementary Text
“[In
this new creation all distinctions vanish]. There is no room for and there can
be neither Greek nor Jew, circumcised nor uncircumcised, [nor difference
between nations whether alien] barbarians or Scythians [who are the most savage
of all], nor slave or free man; but Christ is all and in all [everything and
everywhere, to all men, without distinction of person]. Clothe yourselves
therefore, as God’s own chosen ones (His own picked representatives), [who are]
purified and holy and well-beloved [by God Himself, by putting on behavior
marked by] tenderhearted pity and mercy, kind feeling, a lowly opinion of
yourselves, gentle ways, [and] patience [which is tireless and long-suffering,
and has the power to endure whatever comes, with good temper].” Colossians
3v11-12 (AMP)
