Shun immorality
Hello
everyone,
How
are you doing on this day? I hope well and bubbling in the Lord. We thank God
for our bodies being the temple of the Holy Spirit.
Primary Text
“Shun
immorality and all sexual looseness [flee from impurity in thought, word, or
deed]. Any other sin which a man commits is one outside the body, but he who
commits sexual immorality sins against his own body.” 1 Corinthians 6v18 (AMP)
“Run
from sexual sin! No other sin so clearly affects the body as this one does. For
sexual immorality is a sin against your own body.” 1 Corinthians 6v18 (NLT)
Beloved,
the Bible is very clear on the issue of immorality and sexual sin, and asks us
to flee from it. Proverbs 6v27-29 (KJV) says “Can a man take fire in his bosom,
and his clothes not be burned? Can one go upon hot coals, and his feet not be
burned? So he that goeth in to his neighbour’s wife; whosoever toucheth her
shall not be innocent.” In our thoughts, words and deeds, we should flee sexual
immorality. Ephesians 5v3-5 (NIV) tells us “But among you there must not be
even a hint of sexual immorality, or of any kind of impurity, or of greed,
because these are improper for God’s holy people. Nor should there be
obscenity, foolish talk or coarse joking, which are out of place, but rather
thanksgiving. For of this you can be sure: No immoral, impure or greedy person
– such a person is an idolater – has any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ
and of God.” Hebrews 13v4 (NIV) reminds us that “Marriage should be honored by
all, and the marriage bed kept pure, for God will judge the adulterer and all
the sexually immoral.” For both the married and unmarried, marriage should be
honored, and the sexual unity God ordained for marriage should also be
respected, for God will judge the adulterer and all sexually immoral.
Supplementary Text
“For
this is the will of God, that you should be consecrated (separated and set
apart for pure and holy living): that you should abstain and shrink from all
sexual vice, That each one of you should know how to possess (control, manage)
his own body in consecration (purity, separated from things profane) and honor,
Not [to be used] in the passion of lust like the heathen, who are ignorant of
the true God and have no knowledge of His will,” 1 Thessalonians 4v3-5 (AMP).
Prayer
Our
heavenly Father, we thank You for Your goodness, and for Your will that we
should be sanctified. We ask for mercy and for Your cleansing in anyway we have
been impure in our words, thoughts and deeds. We dedicate our bodies to You and
pray that in all we say, do and think we would glorify You. Help us Lord to
live lives that are pure and pleasing to You in everyway. May there be no hint
of sexual impurity among us in Jesus name, amen.
