A truth about idols
Hello
everyone,
How
are you doing on this day? I hope well and bubbling in the Lord.
Primary Text
“Consider
those [physically] people of Israel. Are not those who eat the sacrifices
partners of the altar [united in their worship of the same God]? What do I
imply then? That food offered to idols is [intrinsically changed by the fact
and amounts to anything or that an idol itself is a [living] thing?” 1
Corinthians 10v18-19 (AMP)
In
reality, an idol itself is nothing. In 1 Corinthians 8v4 (NLT), the apostle
Paul by the inspiration of the Holy Spirit writes “So, what about eating meat
that has been offered to idols? Well, we all know that an idol is not really a
god and that there is only one God.” Psalm 115v1-9 (KJV) says “Not unto us, O
LORD, not unto us, but unto Thy name give glory, for Thy mercy, and for Thy
truth’s sake. Wherefore should the heathen say, Where is now their God? But our
God is in the heavens: He hath done whatsoever He hath pleased. Their idols are
silver and gold, the work of men’s hands. They have mouths, but they speak not:
eyes have they, but they see not: They have ears, but they hear not: noses have
they, but they smell not: They have hands, but they handle not: neither speak
they through their throat. They that make them are like unto them; so is every
one that trusteth in them. O Israel, trust thou in the LORD: He is their help
and their shield.” Many cultures still engage in idol worship, as do many
people. But as we see idols are in and of themselves human constructs. Some
worship other created things, which God Himself has made. But God says, those
who make idols and trust in them are like the idols themselves. That is they
have eyes, but are not seeing; ears but not hearing; noses but not smelling;
hands but not handling; neither are they speaking through their throat. Trust
God – the One and true living God.
Supplementary Text
“What
agreement [can there be between] a temple of God and idols? For we are the
temple of the living God; even as God said, I will dwell in and with and among
them and will walk in and with and among them, and I will be their God, and
they shall be My people. So, come out from among [unbelievers], and separate
(sever) yourselves from them, says the Lord, and touch not [any] unclean thing;
then I will receive you kindly and treat you with favor, And I will be a Father
to you, and you shall be My sons and daughters says the Lord Almighty.” 2
Corinthians 6v16-19 (AMP)
Prayer
Heavenly
Father, we thank You for Your Word. We thank You for the salvation of our
souls. We repent of any form of idolatry in our lives and declare that You are
our God, the Almighty God, whom we love and will serve with gladness, in Jesus
name, amen.
