Spiritual Gifts

Hello everyone,

How are you doing on this day? I hope well and bubbling in the Lord.

Primary Text
“Now concerning spiritual gifts, brethren, I would not have you ignorant.” 1 Corinthians 12v1 (KJV)

“Now about the gifts of the Spirit, brothers and sisters, I do not want you to be uninformed.” 1 Corinthians 12v1 (NIV)

“And now, brothers, I want to write about the special abilities the Holy Spirit gives to each of you, for I don’t want any misunderstanding about them.” 1 Corinthians 12v1 (TLB)

“Now about the spiritual gifts (the special endowments of supernatural energy), brethren, I do not want you to be misinformed.” 1 Corinthians 12v1 (AMP)

Here the apostle Paul expressed to the church in Corinth that he did not want them to be ignorant, uninformed, misinformed or have any misunderstanding about spiritual gifts. If it was good for the church then to have a proper understanding of it, then it is essential for us to do the same. Spiritual gifts as we can see are special endowments or abilities given by the Holy Spirit. They are of various kinds and are given for the profit of all. See 1 Corinthians 12v4-11 below. These gifts can be desired and coveted, as 1 Corinthians 12v31 (AMP) says “But earnestly desire and zealously cultivate the greatest and best gifts and graces (the higher gifts and the choicest graces). And yet I will show you a still more excellent way [one that is better by far and the highest of them all – love].”

Supplementary Text
“Now God gives us many kinds of special abilities, but it is the same Holy Spirit who is the source of them all. There are different kinds of service to God, but it is the same Lord we are serving. There are many ways in which God works in our lives, but it is the same God who does the work in and through all of us who are His. The Holy Spirit displays God’s power through each of us as a means of helping the entire church. To one person the Spirit gives the ability to give wise advice; someone else may be especially good at studying and teaching, and that is his gift from the same Spirit. He gives special faith to another, and to someone else the power to heal the sick. He gives power for doing miracles to some, and to others power to prophesy and preach. He gives someone else the power to know whether evil spirits are speaking through those who claim to be giving God’s messages – or whether it is really the Spirit of God who is speaking. Still another person is able to speak in languages he never learned; and others, who do not know the language either, are given power to understand what he is saying. It is the same and only Holy Spirit who gives all these gifts and powers, deciding which each one of us should have.” 1 Corinthians 12v4-11 (NLB)

Prayer
Begin to covet and pray for the spiritual gifts for yourself.
