Don’t provoke the Lord

Hello everyone,

Happy Sunday. How are you doing on this day? I hope well and bubbling in the Lord.

Primary Text
“You cannot drink the Lord’s cup and the demons’ cup. You cannot partake of the Lord’s table and the demons’ table. Shall we thus provoke the Lord to jealous and anger and indignation? Are we stronger than He [that we should defy Him]?” 1 Corinthians 10v21-22 (AMP)

The apostle Paul explains that those who offer sacrifices to idols are in fact offering them to evil spiritual beings or demons and not to God. As a child of God, this is not acceptable. God told the Israelites “Thou shalt have no other gods before Me. Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth. Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate Me; And shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love Me, and keep My commandments.” (Exodus 20v3-6, KJV). God dislikes idolatry. If we know He doesn’t like it, why do it? The question is posed that are you trying to provoke the Lord to jealousy? Are you stronger than He is that you should defy Him? Hebrews 10v31 (KJV) says “It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.” Our God is the King of kings, and the Lord of lords, He is mighty, and cannot be likened to anything, seen or unseen. Let us serve Him with wholeheartedly and with gladness – He never ever fails.

Supplementary Text
“Now to the King of eternity, incorruptible and immortal, invisible, the only God, be honor and glory forever and ever (to the ages of ages). Amen (so be it).” 1 Timothy 1v17 (AMP)

Prayer
Father, we thank You for Your Word. We ask for mercy and repent of anyway we have engaged in idolatry or provoked You to anger or jealousy by partaking of the table of demons. We declare that You alone are our God and we will serve You forever in Jesus name, amen.
