Remembering and Doing

Hello everyone,

How are you doing on this day? I hope well and bubbling in the Lord.

Primary Text
“I am so glad, dear brothers, that you have been remembering and doing everything I taught you.” 1 Corinthians 11v2 (NLT)

Do you remember what you heard in Church this past Sunday? What about what you heard during the week if you went to Church or some fellowship? Today, there are many Biblical resources and we have access to teachings online, on the radio, on television, daily devotions and so on. Do you remember what you hear and put it into practice or do you just go through the motions? The apostle Paul is here commending the church that they both remember, and do the things that he taught them. James 1v22-25 (AMP) says “But be doers of the Word [obey the message], and not merely listeners to it, betraying yourselves [into deception by reasoning contrary to the Truth]. For if anyone only listens to the Word without obeying it and being a doer of it, he is like a man who looks carefully at his [own] natural face in a mirror; For he thoughtfully observes himself, and then goes off and promptly forgets what he was like. But he who looks carefully into the faultless law, the [law] of liberty, and is faithful to it and perseveres in looking into it, being not a heedless listener who forgets but an active doer [who obeys], he shall be blessed in his doing (his life of obedience).” But in order to do the Word, we have to hear, and do. To constantly do it, we need to remember it. One good way is to meditate on the Word and be convinced of the importance of putting it into practice.

Supplementary Text
“Blessed (happy, fortunate, prosperous, and enviable) is the man who walks and lives not in the counsel of the ungodly [following their advice, their plans and purposes], nor stands [submissive and inactive] in the path where sinners walk, nor sits down [to relax and rest] where the scornful [and the mockers] gather. But his delight and desire are in the law of the Lord, and on His law (the precepts, the instructions, the teachings of God) he habitually meditates (ponders and studies) by day and by night. And he shall be like a tree firmly planted [and tended] by the streams of water, ready to bring forth its fruit in its season; its leaf also shall not fade or wither; and everything he does shall prosper [and come to maturity].” Psalm 1v1-3 (AMP)

Prayer
Father, we thank You so much for Your Word and the teachings we have access to. We pray for the grace to study, to meditate, to persevere in looking into Your Word and to put it into practice in Jesus name, amen.
