Which table are you partaking of?
Hello
everyone,
How
are you doing on this day? I hope well and bubbling in the Lord. We thank God
for His grace, mercy, and protection over our lives. Indeed, He is a good God
who has never failed or forsaken us.
Primary Text
“Consider
those [physically] people of Israel. Are not those who eat the sacrifices
partners of the altar [united in their worship of the same God]? What do I
imply then? That food offered to idols is [intrinsically changed by the fact
and amounts to anything or that an idol itself is a [living] thing? No, I am
suggesting that what the pagans sacrifice they offer to demons (to evil
spiritual powers) and not to God [at all]. I do not want you to fellowship and
be partners with diabolical spirits [by eating at their feasts]. You cannot
drink the Lord’s cup and the demons’ cup. You cannot partake of the Lord’s
table and the demons’ table.” 1 Corinthians 10v18-21 (AMP)
One
thing which the Lord detests is idolatry, that is, letting a person or thing
take the place of God in our lives. When we worship as believers, we worship
the Most High God, the Lord God Almighty; we bring sacrifices of praise to Him.
When people worship idols, they also bring their sacrifices to them. However,
it has been made clear that these idols, usually made of wood, silver, or some
other resource are nothing. They are man-made constructs with eyes, ears, noses,
throats and so on, which are not functional. Yet, in the verses above, the
apostle Paul points out that when these sacrifices are made to idols, they are
in fact being offered to demons. As a believer, we cannot be partakers of the
Lord’s table and that of demons. 2 Corinthians 6v15-16 (NLT) says “What harmony
can there be between Christ and the devil? How can a believer be a partner with
an unbeliever? And what union can there be between God’s temple and idols? For
we are the temple of the living God. As God said: “I will live in them and walk
among them. I will be their God, and they will be My people.” Beloved, which
table are you partaking of? You cannot serve two masters. You cannot claim to
be a servant of the Lord and the temple of the living God and be a partaker of
sacrifices made to idols and in actual fact demons.

“They
sacrificed unto devils, not to God; to gods whom they knew not, to new gods
that came newly up, whom your fathers feared not.” Deuteronomy 32v17 (KJV)
Prayer
Heavenly
Father, we thank You for Your Word. We thank You for the salvation of our
souls. We repent of any way we have knowingly or unknowingly partook of
sacrifices made to demons and evil spirits. Please forgive us. We declare that
You alone are our God and we serve You only. All this we pray in Jesus name,
amen.
