Flee idolatry
Hello
everyone,
How
are you doing on this day? I hope well and bubbling in the Lord.
“Therefore,
my dearly beloved, shun (keep clear away from, avoid by flight if need be) any
sort of idolatry or venerating anything more than God).” 1 Corinthians 10v14 (AMP)
Beloved,
the Bible is here telling us to not permit, to disallow, to keep away from any
sort of idolatry, that is anything that you begin to exalt above God and permit
to take His place in your life. Some examples could be actual man-made or
created objects, self, money, our work, spouse, children, friends, a habit and
so on. 1 John 5v21 (AMP) says “Little children, keep yourselves from idols
(false gods) – [from anything and everything that would occupy the place in
your heart due to God, from any sort of substitute for Him that would take
first place in your life]. Amen (so let it be).” Child of God, is Jesus still
at the center of your heart? Is He first place in your life? Is it still all
about Him? James 4v8 (AMP) tells us to “Come close to God and He will come
close to you. [Recognize that you are] sinners, get your soiled hands clean;
[realize that you have been disloyal] wavering individuals with divided
interests, and purify your hearts [of your spiritual adultery].”
Supplementary Text
“So
kill (deaden, deprive of power) the evil desire lurking in your members [those
animal impulses and all that is earthly in you that is employed in sin]: sexual
vice, impurity, sensual appetites, unholy desires, and all greed and
covetousness, for that is idolatry (the deifying of self and other created
things instead of God).” (Colossians 3v5, AMP).
Prayer
Father
God, I thank You for Your Word. Please search me and know my heart, try me, and
know my thoughts, and point out if there is anything in me that offends You,
and lead me along the path of everlasting life in Jesus name, amen.
