The Bread of Life

Hello everyone,

How are you doing on this day? I hope well and bubbling in the Lord. We thank God for His goodness, faithfulness, lovingkindness and tendermercies.

Primary Text
“The cup of blessing [of wine at the Lord’s Supper] upon which we ask [God’s] blessing, does it not mean [that in drinking it] we participate in and share a fellowship (a communion) in the blood of Christ (the Messiah)? The bread which we break, does it not mean [that in eating it] we participate in and share a fellowship (a communion) in the body of Christ? For we [no matter how] numerous we are, are one body, because we all partake of the one Bread [the One Whom the communion bread represents].” 1 Corinthians 10v16-17 (AMP)

Jesus is the Bread of life. He said “… I am the Bread of Life. He who comes to Me will never be hungry, and he who believes in and cleaves to and trusts in and relies on Me will never thirst any more (at any time)” (John 6v35, AMP). In Jesus, we have life and hope not only in this world, but in that to come. We have fulfillment, we have peace and joy. In the wilderness, the Israelites ate of manna, that was given to them by God. But Jesus is the Bread of Life, the One in whom we partake of and we are given eternal life. For example, Jesus is the Word (John 1v1), and the words He spoke were spirit and life, John 6v62 (NIV) saying “The Spirit gives life; the flesh counts for nothing. The words I have spoken to you – they are full of the Spirit and life.”

Supplementary Text
“I am the Bread of Life [that gives life – the Living Bread]. Your forefathers ate the manna in the wilderness, and [yet] they died. [But] this is the Bread that comes down from heaven, so that [any]one may eat of it and never die. I [Myself] am this Living Bread that came down from heaven. If anyone eats of this Bread, he will live forever; and also the Bread that I shall give for the life of the world is My flesh (body). Then the Jews angrily contended with one another, saying, How is He able to give us His flesh to eat? And Jesus said to them, I assure you, most solemnly I tell you, you cannot have any life in you unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink His blood [unless you appropriate His life and the saving merit of His blood]. He who feeds on My flesh and drinks My blood has (possesses now) eternal life, and I will raise him up [from the dead] on the last day. For My flesh is true and genuine food, and My blood is true and genuine drink. He who feeds on My flesh and drinks My blood dwells continually in Me, and I [in like manner dwell continually] in him. Just as the living Father sent Me and I live by (through, because of) the Father, even so whoever continues to feed on Me [whoever takes Me for his food and is nourished by Me] shall [in his turn] live through and because of Me. This is the Bread that came down from heaven. It is not like the manna which our forefathers ate, and yet died; he who takes this Bread for his food shall live forever.” John 6v48-58 (AMP)

Heavenly Father, we thank You for Your Word. We thank You for Jesus being the Bread of Life. We thank You for the eternal life that we have from partaking from Him. We thank You so much for the Word of God. Blessed be Your holy name now and forevermore in Jesus name, amen.
