Living to Please God

Hello everyone,

How are you doing on this day? I hope well and bubbling in the Lord.

Primary Text
“Furthermore then we beseech you, brethren, and exhort you by the Lord Jesus, that as ye have received of us how ye ought to walk and to please God, so ye would abound more and more. For ye know what commandments we gave you by the Lord Jesus.” 1 Thessalonians 4v1-2 (NIV)

Beloved, are you a God pleaser – or a man or self-pleaser? Beloved, be a God-pleaser. From the verses above we find that even if you have already been pleasing God, continue to do it even more and more, continuously and more abundantly. Another thing we see in this verse is that Paul, Silas and Timothy mentioned that these were things you received of “us”. This poses the question of what doctrine are you continuing in? Is it the one that you know has come from the Lord Jesus or some other doctrine? Galatians 1v8-9 (NIV) says “But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach a gospel other than the one we preached to you, let them be under God’s curse! As we have already said, so now I say again: If anybody is preaching to you a gospel other than what you accepted, let them be under God’s curse!” Because indeed we know that there are some false teachers out there: “I say this because some godless teachers have wormed their way in among you, saying that after we become Christians we can do just as we like without fear of God’s punishment. The fate of such people was written long ago, for they have turned against our only Master and Lord, Jesus Christ.” (Jude 1v4, TLB). May we be discerning to know always what messages are of God and what is not of God in Jesus name, amen.

Supplementary Text
“Practice what you have learned and received and heard and seen in me, and model your way of living on it, and the God of peace (of untroubled, undisturbed well-being) will be with you.” Philippians 4v9 (AMP)

Prayer
My Lord and my God I want to please You every day and in every way. Teach me to do this and grant me the grace to do so in Jesus name, amen.
