The coming of the Lord

Hello everyone,

How are you doing on this day? I hope well and bubbling in the Lord.

Primary Text
Accordingly then, let us not sleep, as the rest do, but let us keep wide awake (alert, watchful, cautious, and on our guard) and let us be sober (calm, collected, and circumspect).” 1 Thessalonians 5v6 (AMP)

One of the encouragements that was given to the church in Thessalonica was regarding the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. They were exhorted to comfort one another with the words of the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, so that even when they lost a loved one who was in the Lord, they should know that one day, they and those ones will meet the Lord at His coming (1 Thessalonians 4v13-18). Hallelujah. Here, the Word speaks of being sober, being calm, being collect and circumspect. Why is this? For one the exact date and time that the Lord is coming is not known. Matthew 24v36-39 (KJV) says “But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only. But as the days of Noah were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be. For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark, And knew not until the flood came, and took them all away; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.” But as believers, we are aware of these things. We know that the Lord is coming back soon – and we should be prepared and not be caught unawares.
Supplementary Text
“But as to the suitable times and the precise seasons and dates, brethren, you have no necessity for anything being written to you. For you yourselves know perfectly well that the day of the [return of the] Lord will come [as unexpectedly and suddenly] as a thief in the night. When people are saying, All is well and secure, and, There is peace and safety, then in a moment unforeseen destruction (ruin and death) will come upon them as suddenly as labor pains come upon a woman with child; and they shall by no means escape, for there will be no escape. But you are not in [given up to the power of] darkness, brethren, for that day to overtake you by surprise like a thief.” (1 Thessalonians 5v1-4, AMP).

Prayer
Our Father and our God, we thank You so much for this day. We thank You for the salvation of our souls and the hope that we have in You. We are grateful for being kept in You. Father we pray that we would be found in You when the Lord comes in Jesus name, amen.
