No More Immorality
Hello everyone,
How are you doing on
this day? I hope well and bubbling in the Lord.
Primary Text
“And this also is
God’s will: that you never cheat in this matter by taking another man’s wife
because the Lord will punish you terribly for this, as we have solemnly told
you before. For God has not called us to be dirty-minded and full of lust but
to be holy and clean. If anyone refuses to live by these rules, he is not
disobeying the rules of men but of God who gives His Holy Spirit to you.” 1
Thessalonians 4v6-8 (TLB)
“Don’t run roughshod
over the concerns of your brothers and sisters. Their concerns are God’s
concerns, and He will take care of them. We’ve warned you about this before.
God hasn’t invited us into a disorderly, unkempt life but into something holy
and beautiful – as beautiful on the inside as the outside. If you disregard
this advice, you’re not offending your neighbors; you’re rejecting God, who is
making you a gift of His Holy Spirit.” 1 Thessalonians 4v6-8 (MSG)
Beloved, sexual
purity is something that God is very clear about. He would have us live holy
lives. It does not matter what the world says, what the television dictates,
what people say is in vogue or is old-fashioned or not, God does not like
immorality. In the verses above, we are told that He is the punisher of those
who take other people’s wives. And we know that “It is a dreadful thing to fall
into the hands of the living God.” (Hebrews 10v31, NIV). God would not ask us
to do things that are impossible, and He would not help us to justify what He
has said not to do. Instead He has given us the grace to do what He would have
us do.
Supplementary Text
“Therefore, my dear
ones, as you have always obeyed [my suggestions], so now, not only [with the
enthusiasm you would show] in my presence but much more because I am absent,
work out (cultivate, carry out to the goal, and fully complete) your own
salvation with reverence and awe and trembling (self-distrust, with serious
caution, tenderness of conscience, watchfulness against temptation, timidly
shrinking from whatever might offend God and discredit the name of Christ).
[Not in your own strength] for it is God Who is all the while effectually at
work in creating in you the power and desire], both to will and to work for His
good pleasure and satisfaction and delight.” Philippians 2v12-13 (AMP)
Prayer
Hebrews 4v15-16 tells
us that we have a High Priest who understands our weaknesses because He had the
same temptations that we had but did not sin, and so we should come boldly
before God’s throne of grace to obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of
need. Why don’t you approach the throne of grace today and receive mercy for
your shortcomings and grace to help for every need.
