Bodily control!

Hello everyone,

How are you doing on this day? I hope well and bubbling in the Lord.

Primary Text
“That each one of you should know how to possess (control, manage) his own body in consecration (purity, separated from things profane) and honor, Not [to be used] in the passion of lust like the heathen, who are ignorant of the true God and have no knowledge of His will,” 1 Thessalonians 4v4-5 (AMP)

Beloved, we are encouraged here to learn to possess, manage, control our own bodies. We may not be able to influence other people’s behavior, but we are told to learn to control ours. Speaking on a different issue, someone once said that he tells his body what to do, in the sense of dictating to his body and not his body dictating to him. Also when it comes to sanctification, we need to get to that point, and not give into fleshly lusts. The Apostle Paul said “But I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection: lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway” (1 Corinthians 9v27, KJV). We are told too in Colossians 3v5-6 (TLB) that “Away then with sinful, earthly things; deaden the evil desires lurking within you; have nothing to do with sexual sin, impurity, lust, and shameful desires; don’t worship the good things of life, for that is idolatry. God’s terrible anger is upon those who do such things.” Beloved, by the power of the Holy Spirit, take charge and control of your body, consecrating it for the glory of God.

Supplementary Text
“Do not let sin control the way you live; do not give in to sinful desires. Do not let any part of your body become an instrument of evil to serve sin. Instead, give yourselves completely to God, for you were dead, but now you have new life. So use your whole body as an instrument to do what is right for the glory of God. Sin is no longer your master, for you no longer live under the requirements of the law. Instead, you live under the freedom of God’s grace. Well then, since God’s grace has set us free from the law, does that mean we can go on sinning? Of course not! Don’t you realize that you become the slave of whatever you choose to obey? You can be a slave to sin, which leads to death, or you can choose to obey God, which leads to righteous living. Thank God! Once you were slaves of sin, but now you wholeheartedly obey this teaching we have given you. Now you are free from your slavery to sin, and you have become slaves to righteous living.” Romans 6v12-18 (NLT)

Prayer
Father I thank You for Your Word. I give my everything to You – spirit, soul and body to be used for the glory of Your name in Jesus name, amen.
