Peace, be still!
Hello everyone,
How are you doing on
this day? I hope well and bubbling in the Lord.
Primary Text
“And the very God of
peace …” 1 Thessalonians 5v23 (KJV)
“May God Himself, the
God of peace, …” 1 Thessalonians 5v23 (NIV)
Our God is a God of
peace. Our Lord Jesus is Himself called the Prince of peace. Our God can give a
peace so wonderful, so supernatural that someone who is going through a
tumultuous situation would be settled through it. Jesus Himself exemplified
this when He slept in the boat though they were going through a storm (Mark
4v36-41). This Prince of peace has given us His peace. In John 14v27 (AMP) He
told His disciples – “Peace I leave with you; My [own] peace I now give and
bequeath to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Do not let your
hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid. [Stop allowing yourselves to be
agitated and disturbed; and do not permit yourselves to be fearful and
intimidated and cowardly and unsettled.]” Our God tells us fear not. Fear not
dear one, you have the God of peace as your God! Philippians 4v6-7 also encourages us that “Do not fret or
have any anxiety about anything, but in every circumstance and in everything,
by prayer and petition (definite requests), with thanksgiving, continue to make
your wants known to God. And God’s peace [shall be yours, that tranquil state
of a soul assured of its salvation through Christ, and so fearing nothing from
God and being content with its earthly lot of whatever sort that is, that
peace] which transcends all understanding shall garrison and mount guard over
your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.” Furthermore, through the presence and
working of the indwelling Spirit of God in our lives, we begin to manifest
peace, as it is one of the fruit of the Spirit. Pulling from Isaiah 26v3 (see
below), let us meditate on His Word, His nature, His promises, and rely on Him
totally.
Supplementary Text
“You will guard him
and keep him in perfect and constant peace whose mind [both its inclination and
its character] is stayed on You, because he commits himself to You, leans on
You, and hopes confidently in You.” Isaiah 26v3 (AMP)
Prayer
Is something
troubling you today – speak to God about it. Rest in Him and let His peace
garrison your heart.
