Hope
Hello everyone,
How are you doing on this day? I
hope well and bubbling in the Lord.
Primary Text
“But we belong to the day;
therefore, let us be sober and put on the breastplate (corslet) of faith and
love and for a helmet the hope of salvation.” 1 Thessalonians 5v8-9 (AMP)
Apart from being sober and putting
on faith as a breastplate, as believers we are encouraged to put on for a
helmet the hope of salvation. Romans 8v23-25 (TLB) says “And even we
Christians, although we have the Holy Spirit within us as a foretaste of future
glory, also groan to be released from pain and suffering. We, too, wait
anxiously for that day when God will give us our full rights as His children,
including the new bodies He has promised us – bodies that will never be sick
again and will never die. We are saved by trusting. And trusting means looking
forward to getting something we don’t yet have – for a man who already has
something doesn’t need to hope and trust that he will get it. But if we must keep
trusting God for something that hasn’t happened yet, it teaches us to wait
patiently and confidently.” Indeed we look forward to our Lord Jesus coming
back again for His church. Let us keep that hope alive regardless of what we
are going through – fixing our eyes on Jesus.
Supplementary Text
“Therefore then, since we are
surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses [who have borne testimony to the
Truth], let us strip off and throw aside every encumbrance (unnecessary weight)
and that sin which so readily (deftly and cleverly) clings to and entangles us,
and let us run with patient endurance and steady and active persistence the
appointed course of the race that is set before us, Looking away [from all that
will distract] to Jesus, Who is the Leader and the Source of our faith [giving
the first incentive for our belief] and is also its Finisher [bringing it to
maturity and perfection]. He, for the joy [of obtaining the prize] that was set
before Him, endured the cross, despising and ignoring the shame, and is now
seated at the right hand of the throne of God. Just think of Him Who endured
from sinners such grievous opposition and bitter hostility against Himself
[reckon up and consider it all in comparison with your trials], so that you may
not grow weary or exhausted, losing heart and relaxing and fainting in your
minds.” Hebrews 12v1-3 (AMP)
Prayer
Father we thank You so much for the
hope of our salvation. We look to Jesus the Author and the Finisher of our
faith. We indeed keep our confident trust in You and look forward to the coming
of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ in Jesus name, amen.
