Praying in line with His will
Hello everyone,
How are you doing on
this day? I hope well and bubbling in the Lord.
Primary Text
“Be unceasing in
prayer [praying perseveringly];” 1 Thessalonians 5v17 (AMP)
Our God is truly an
awesome God, who hears His children when they pray to Him. However, apart from
prayers that God would not even hear (for example in situations where sin and
iniquity have separated the person praying from Him), there are some prayers
that He would not answer. One of the reasons God would not answer certain
prayers is because on the one hand we do not even ask Him, or on the other hand
when we ask, our motives are wrong and they fall out of His will. James 3v1-3
(AMP) says “What leads to strife (discord and feuds) and how do conflicts
(quarrels and fightings) originate among you? Do they not arise from your
sensual desires that are ever warring in your bodily members? You are jealous
and covet [what others have] and your desires go unfulfilled; [so] you become
murderers. [To hate is to murder as far as your hearts are concerned.] You burn
with envy and anger and are not able to obtain [the gratification, the
contentment, and the happiness that you seek], so you fight and war. You do not
have, because you do not ask. [Or] you do ask [God for them] and yet fail to
receive, because you ask with wrong purpose and evil, selfish motives. Your
intention is [when you get what you desire] to spend it in sensual pleasures.”
But what a wonderful thing it is when we pray aright, knowing without doubt
that God is hearing and would answer us. This is one reason it is great to
fellowship with the Lord through His Word; Jesus being the Word of God. In the
Word of God, His heart, His will, plans and purposes are revealed, and you
would find yourself praying in accordance with this will as you read the Word. John
15v7 (NIV) saying “If you remain in Me and My words remain in you, ask whatever
you wish, and it will be done for you.”
Supplementary Text
“And this is the
confidence (the assurance, the privilege of boldness) which we have in Him: [we
are sure] that if we ask anything (make any request) according to His will (in
agreement with His own plan), He listens to and hears us. And if (since) we
[positively] know that He listens to us in whatever we ask, we also know [with
settled and absolute knowledge] that we have [granted us as our present
possessions] the requests made of Him.” 1 John 5v14-15 (AMP)
Prayer
Father, I thank You
for Your Word. Please help me to indeed study and meditate on Your Word, and
let the entrance of Your Word give me light and understanding that I may know
how to pray aright in Jesus name, amen.
