Turn from evil and do good!

How are you doing on this day? I hope well and bubbling in the Lord.

“Abstain from all appearance of evil.” 1 Thessalonians 5v22 (KJV)

“reject every kind of evil.” 1 Thessalonians 5v22 (NIV)

“Abstain from evil [shrink from it and keep aloof from it] in whatever form or whatever kind it may be.” 1 Thessalonians 5v22 (AMP)

“Keep away from every kind of evil.” 1 Thessalonians 5v22 (TLB)

Beloved, everything that looks like sin and evil let us not tolerate it but instead abstain from it. Let us not think I can handle it. Don’t think it is just a little sin like a little white lie, but anything that looks like evil, let us abstain from it. Romans 12v9 (NIV) says “... Hate what is evil; cling to what is good.” God does not like evil and in reverence and fear of Him, we too should stay away from it. Psalm 37v1-11, 27 (NIV) gives these words of encouragement “Do not fret because of those who are evil or be envious of those who do wrong; for like the grass they will soon wither, like green plants they will soon die away. Trust in the LORD and do good; dwell in the land and enjoy safe pasture. Take delight in the LORD, and He will give you the desires of your heart. Commit your way to the LORD: trust in Him and He will do this: He will make your righteous reward shine like the dawn, your vindication like the noonday sun. Be still before the LORD and wait patiently for Him; do not fret when people succeed in their ways, when they carry out their wicked schemes. Refrain from anger and turn from wrath; do not fret – it leads only to evil. For those who are evil will be destroyed, but those who hope in the Lord will inherit the land. A little while, and the wicked will be no more; though you look for them, they will not be found. But the meek will inherit the land and enjoy peace and prosperity… Turn from evil and do good; then you will dwell in the land forever.” Child of God, there is nothing like serving and being a child of God. Perhaps you are discouraged and like David in Psalm 73 looking at others and thinking the evil seem to prosper, or like it is said in Malachi 3v14-15 I have served God in vain, and the evildoers prosper. Let the verses of Psalm 37 (also see Psalm 73) encourage you. Remember, life is about today, tomorrow and eternity. Serve the Lord with gladness, turn from evil, do good and your tomorrow will be just fine.

Prayer

Father, I thank You so much for Your goodness, mercy and love. I pray You restore to me the joy of Thy salvation. Help me always to do good and shun evil in Jesus name, amen.
