Work
Hello everyone,
How are you doing on this day? I
hope well and bubbling in the Lord.
Primary Text
“And we urge you, brothers and
sisters, warn those who are idle and disruptive, … “1 Thessalonians 5v14 (NIV)
“Now we exhort you, brethren, warn
them that are unruly,…” 1 Thessalonians 5v14 (KJV)
“Dear brothers, warn those who are
lazy, …” Thessalonians 5v14 (TLB)
“And we earnestly beseech you,
brethren, admonish (warn and seriously advise) those who are out of line [the
loafers, the disorderly, and the unruly]; …” Thessalonians 5v14 (AMP)
Our God works. Our Lord Jesus also
worked while He was on earth. John 5v17 (AMP) says “But Jesus answered them, My
Father has worked [even] until now, [He has never ceased working; He is still
working] and I, too, must be at [divine] work.” As believers there is a lot of
work for us to do. There is work for the ministry, and we are also to do every
work that we find to do as unto the Lord and not unto man (Colossians 3v23). We
are advised as believers to work. 2 Thessalonians 3v10-12 (NIV) says “For even
when we were with you, we gave you this rule: “The one who is unwilling to work
shall not eat. We hear that some among you are idle and disruptive. They are
not busy; they are busybodies. Such people we command and urge in the Lord
Jesus Christ to settle down and earn the food they eat.” We can imagine what the
ministry, our homes, families and lives will be like if everyone decides not to
work. Furthermore, we also need to have great work ethics. And as believers, we
have the added advantage that with God with us, and by the power of the Holy
Spirit, we are empowered to succeed at whatever we lay our hands to do.
Supplementary Text
“And Joseph was brought down to
Egypt; and Potiphar, the captain and chief executioner of the [royal] guard, an
Egyptian, bought him from the Ishmaelites who had brought him down there. But
the Lord was with Joseph, and he [though a slave] was a successful and prosperous
man; and he was in the house of his master the Egyptian. And his master saw
that the Lord was with him and that the Lord made all that he did to flourish
and succeed in his hand. So Joseph pleased [Potiphar] and found favor in his
sight, and he served him. And [his master] made him supervisor over his house
and he put all that he had in his charge. From the time that he made him
supervisor in his house and over all that he had, the Lord blessed the Egyptian’s
house for Joseph’s sake; and the Lord’s blessing was on all that he had in the
house and in the field.” Genesis 39v1-5 (AMP)
Prayer
Father, we thank You for Your Word.
We commit the works of our hands into Your hands. We pray that You will bless
and prosper them, and that Your manifest Presence would always be with us. We
pray that we will do all things as unto You and not to man. We pray for those
looking for work that You will provide in Jesus name, amen.
