A shield of faith
Hello everyone,
How are you doing on this day? I
hope well and bubbling in the Lord.
Primary Text
“We are bound to thank God always
for you, brethren, as it is meet, because that your faith groweth exceedingly,
…” 2 Thessalonians 1v3 (KJV)
Beloved, from this verse of
scripture, we see that our faith can grow, and we should let it grow. We are
also to develop ourselves on this foundation of faith, Jude 1v20 (TLB) saying “But
you, dear friends, must build up your lives ever more strongly upon the
foundation of our holy faith, learning to pray in the power and strength of the
Holy Spirit.” Our faith also serves as a shield against the attacks of the
enemy. Ephesians 6v16 (AMP) tells us to “Lift up over all the [covering] shield
of saving faith, upon which you can quench all the flaming missiles of the
wicked [one].” What might this look like? It might look like you being faced
with a giant named Goliath and saying “… “You come against me with sword and
spear and javelin, but I come against you in the name of the LORD Almighty, the
God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied. This day the LORD will
deliver you into my hands, and I’ll strike you down and cut off your head. This
very day I will give the carcasses of the Philistine army to the birds and the
wild animals, and the whole world will know that there is a God in Israel. All
those gathered here will know that it is not by sword or spear that the LORD
saves; for the battle is the LORD’s, and He will give all of you into our
hands.” (1 Samuel 17v45-47, NIV). Amen. It is telling your situation about the
God you serve, not being moved by what you see. It is saying like our Lord
Jesus “It is written!”
Supplementary Text
“He did not weaken in faith when he
considered the [utter] impotence of his own body, which was as good as dead
because he was a hundred years old, or [when he considered] the barrenness of
Sarah’s [deadened] womb. No unbelief or distrust made him waver (doubtingly
question) concerning the promise of God, but he grew strong and was empowered
by faith as he gave praise and glory to God, Fully satisfied and assured that
God was able and mighty to keep His word and to do what He had promised. That
is why his faith was credited to him as righteousness (right standing with
God).” Romans 4v19-22 (AMP)
Prayer
Father, we thank You for faith. We
pray that we would continue to grow in our faith, using it as a shield against
every attack of the enemy, in Jesus name, amen.
