Psalm 77: On promises

Hello everyone,

How are you doing on this day? I hope well and bubbling in the Lord. We thank God for His grace, His goodness, His faithfulness, His love for us, His peace, He is indeed a great great God. We are already in the 3rd month of 2010, that too already coming to an end. Maybe you are in a place where you are already thinking, Lord, those things you promised me, I am not seeing them. Even the Psalmist at a point said:

“…doth His promise fail for evermore?” Psalm 77v8

In our “heart of hearts”, borrowing an expression we use where I am from, that is deep down, you know that God is faithful and He is true. Hold on, have faith in God. The Bible tells us that:

“For ye have need of patience, that, after ye have done the will of God, ye might receive the promise.” Hebrews 10v36

“In order that you may not grow disinterested and become [spiritual] sluggards, but imitators, behaving as do those who through faith (by their leaning of the entire personality on God in Christ in absolute trust and confidence in His power, wisdom, and goodness) and by practice of patient endurance and waiting are [now] inheriting the promises.” Hebrews 6v12 (Amplified Bible)

We have so many people we can imitate – Abraham, Noah, Joseph, Daniel, Ruth, Esther … Don’t grow disinterested in God, remember “The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance. (2 Peter 3v9).

Have faith in God. Rely on His power – His ability to bring that which He has promised to pass; His wisdom – His knowing of the right time, and ability to get things done in the best possible way; His goodness – that He is good, and that “The blessing of the LORD, it maketh rich, and He addeth no sorrow with it.” (Proverbs 10v22). The Amplified also calls patient endurance and waiting a practice. Won’t you practice patience until you get the promise. Hold on, you have come this far. Remember:

“When the LORD brought back His exiles to Jerusalem, it was like a dream!
We were filled with laughter, and we sang for joy. And the other nations said, “What amazing things the LORD has done for them.”
Yes, the LORD has done amazing things for us! What joy!” Psalm 126v1-3 (New Living Translation).

SO, won’t you wait for the Lord to bring His promise for your life to pass? It would be worth the wait. Won’t you let Him write that testimony for you? Then you will have cause to say what joy! And others will jubilate with you as well. Let Him. His promise cannot fail, because “God is not a man, that He should lie; neither the son of man, that He should repent: hath He said, and shall He not do it? or hath He spoken, and shall He not make it good?” Numbers 23v19 (KJV)

Have a very blessed day.
