God’s Opinion
Hello everyone,
How are you doing on this day? I hope well and bubbling in the Lord.
Primary Text
“Come to Him [then, to that] Living Stone which men tried and threw away, but which is chosen [and] precious in God’s sight.” 1 Peter 2v5 (AMP)
God’s opinion really is different from that of man’s. The Lord of glory was rejected by man, but He was chosen of God. John 1v10-11 (NIV) says “He was in the world, and though the world was made through Him, the world did not recognize Him. He came to that which was His own, But His own did not receive Him.” Man is sometimes short-sighted, but God is all knowing. Samuel the prophet, when God sent him to anoint one of son’s of Jesse king, thought to himself when Eliab came before him that “Surely the LORD’s anointed is before Him. But the LORD said unto Samuel, Look not on his countenance, or on the height of his stature; because I have refused him: for the LORD seeth not as man seeth: for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the LORD looketh on the heart.” (1 Samuel 16v6-7, KJV). One implication of this is that we should seek the Lord’s approval, not man’s, because while man may be hailing you and saying you are all that, you may in fact be headed for destruction. On the other hand, what looks to man as nonsense and useless, may meet the Lord’s approval, see Isaiah 55v8-9 below. We thank God for His Spirit that dwells with us and is in us, Who guides us into all truth (John 14v17; 16v13). May we constantly be aware of His presence and seek to walk in His counsel.
Supplementary Text
“For My thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways My ways, says the Lord. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways and My thoughts than your thoughts.” Isaiah 55v8-9 (AMP)
Father, we thank You so much for this day. Father, we pray for the Spirit of wisdom and of understanding, the Spirit of counsel and of might, the Spirit of the knowledge and fear of the LORD, to rest upon us. I pray that we will delight in the fear of the LORD, and will not judge by what we see with our eyes or decide by what we hear with our ears, but we will truly be led by You in each and everything we do in Jesus name, amen. (see Isaiah 11v2-3)
