14 April 2012 – Lively Stones

Hello everyone,

How are you doing on this day? I hope well and bubbling in the Lord. Wow, this month is running by fast. But we thank God that He is working in us, both to will and to do of His good pleasure (Philippians 2v13). The Bible says:

Primary Text
“[Come] and, like living stones, be yourselves built [into] a spiritual house,...” 1 Peter 2v5 (AMP)
“And you are living stones that God is building into His spiritual temple …” 1 Peter 2v5 (NLT)

Many of us may not envision ourselves as a stone, but the Bible is here telling is that God is building us into His spiritual temple/house, saying we are (as) living stones. It reminds me of Romans 12v1 (AMP), which says “I APPEAL to you therefore brethren, and beg of you in view of [all] the mercies of God, to make a decisive dedication of your bodies [presenting all your members and faculties] as a living sacrifice, (holy, devoted, consecrated) and well pleasing to God, which is your reasonable (rational, intelligent) service and spiritual worship.” Just as we are like living stones, we are to present ourselves as living sacrifices unto God – let Him mold us and use us as He will. He is the Potter and we are the clay. Hebrews 3v4 (AMP) says “For [of course] every house is built and furnished by someone, but the Builder of all things and the Furnisher [of the entire equipment of all things] is God.” Now, for a stone to be fitted into a building, it may have to be chiseled and made to fit in with other stones, none of which may be pleasant at the time, but at the end of the day it will be worth it.

Supplementary Text
“Do you not discern and understand that you [the whole church at Corinth] are God’s temple (His sanctuary), and that God’s Spirit has His permanent dwelling in you [to be at home in you, collectively as a church and also individually]? If anyone does hurt to God’s temple or corrupts it [with false doctrines] or destroys it, God will do hurt to him and bring him to the corruption of death and destroy him. For the temple of God is holy (sacred to Him) and that [temple] you [the believing church and its individual believers] are.” 1 Corinthians 3v16-17 (AMP)

Father, I thank You for I am a lively stone that You are building up into Your spiritual temple. I yield to You, and offer myself as a living sacrifice unto You. Use me for Your glory even within Your temple in Jesus name, amen.
