Obedience
Hello everyone,
How are you doing on this day? I hope well and bubbling in the Lord.
Primary Text
“And, “He is the stone that makes people stumble, the rock that makes them fall.” They stumble because they do not obey God’s word, and so they meet the fate that was planned for them.” 1 Peter 2v8 (NLT)
“And, A Stone that will cause stumbling and a Rock that will give [men] offense; they stumble because they disobey and disbelieve [God’s] Word, as those [who reject Him] were destined (appointed to do].” 1 Peter 2v8 (AMP)
Through disbelief and disobedience to the Word of God, some stumble. But we have an example of Jesus who was obedient, even to death on the cross. Hebrews 5v8-9 (AMP) says “Although He was a Son, He learned [active, special] obedience through what He suffered And, [His completed experience] making Him perfectly [equipped], He became the Author and Source of eternal salvation to all those who give heed and obey Him,” Obedience is very important to God. In John 15v14 (KJV), Jesus said “Ye are My friends, if ye do whatsoever I command you.” Are you a friend of God? Most of us know the song “Friend of God” and sing it, but can we boast to be His friends? That whatsoever He tells us to do, we do? In John 15v15 (KJV) Jesus said “Henceforth I call you not servants; for the servant knoweth not what his lord doeth: but I have called you friends; for all things that I have heard of My Father I have made known unto you.” God has revealed so much to us. Are we quick to obey Him? It was hard for Jesus to die for us, but He still went through with it. When we find it difficult to obey, let’s look to Jesus as our example, and the Holy Spirit to help us.
Supplementary Text
“fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him, he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. Consider him who endured such opposition from sinners, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart.” Hebrews 12v2-3 (NIV)
Heavenly Father, I thank You for Your Word. I pray for the grace to do all of Your will, all of the time in Jesus name, amen.
