God our Father

Hello everyone,

How are you doing on this day? I hope well and bubbling in the Lord. God is such a Father, and a great Father. Even when we miss it, He still wants us to come to Him. Remember the prodigal son.

Primary Text: 2 Chronicles 16v12-14
“And Asa in the thirty and ninth year of his reign was diseased in his feet, until his disease was exceeding great: yet in his disease he sought not to the LORD, but to the physicians. And Asa slept with his fathers, and died in the one and fortieth year of his reign. And they buried him in his own sepulchers, which he had made for himself in the city of David, and laid him in the bed which was filled with sweet odours and divers kinds of spices prepared by the apothecaries’ art: and they made a very great burning for him.” 2 Chronicles 16v12-14 (KJV)

King Asa had a disease, but the Bible specifically mentioned that in it, he sought not unto the LORD, but unto the physicians. In previous verses, Asa had sought the hand of another king when he was at war, and a seer had come to reprove him, and Asa had been angry at this reprove. However, the fact that the Bible mentioned that he did not seek after the Lord in his disease, meant that there was mercy available for him, regardless of how he may have missed it in time past, but he did not take it. Earlier in his life, this word had been spoken to him – “…. The LORD is with you, while ye be with Him; and if ye seek Him, He will be found of you; but if ye forsake Him, He will forsake you.” (2 Chronicles 14v2). He failed to seek God. God takes pleasure in those who fear Him and hope in His mercy (Psalm 147v11). He is looking for us to come to Him, where we are. We don’t need to be counting for ourselves or for Him all our sins, or mistakes, and we don’t have to harden our hearts to Him. Just come! God is also our Jehovah Rapha – our Healer. Are you sick in your body, in your spirit, in your soul? Seek the Lord. Where physicians fail, He can never fail (Remember the woman with the issue of blood, Mark 5v25-34).

But Ahaz said, I will not ask, neither will I tempt the Lord.” Isaiah 7v10-12 (AMP)

“He takes no pleasure in the strength of a horse or in human might. No, the LORD’s delight is in those who fear Him, those who put their hope in His unfailing love.” Psalm 147v10-11 (NLT)
