Serving Him
Hello everyone,
How are you doing on this day? I hope well and bubbling in the Lord.
Primary Text: Colossians 1v9-10
“For this reason, since the day we heard about you, we have not stopped praying for you and asking God to fill you with the knowledge of His will through all spiritual wisdom and understanding. And we pray this in order that you may live a life worthy of the Lord and may please Him in every way: bearing fruit in every good work, …” Colossians 1v9-10 (NIV)
God is glorified when we as believers bear much fruit. But the only way we can bear fruit is by abiding in Jesus and He in turn will abide in you. Jesus is called the True Vine. Why did Jesus qualify Vine with True. Because there are perhaps other vines out there – fake, artificial, withered and withering – that would lead you to bring forth no fruit, or bad fruit. Jesus is the True Vine. How can you bring forth much fruit? By abiding in Him and letting Him abide in you, by living in Him, dwelling in Him. It is not a waste of time to read your Bible, listen to a message, fellowship with God and other believers. It is not a waste of time to ensure that you are abiding in Him, because if you lose that vital link to Him, then you become a fruitless branch which will be taken away. But if you abide in Him and He in you, then you bring forth much fruit and the Father is glorified. Are you abiding in Him?
Supplementary Text:
“I AM the True Vine, and My Father is the Vinedresser. Any branch in Me that does not bear fruit [that stops bearing] He cuts away (trims off, takes away); and He cleanses and repeatedly prunes every branch that continues to bear fruit, to make it bear more and richer and more excellent fruit. You are cleansed and pruned already, because of the word which I have given you [the teachings I have discussed with you].
Dwell in Me, and I will dwell in you. [Live in Me, and I will live in you.] Just as no branch can bear fruit of itself without abiding in (being vitally united to) the vine, neither can you bear fruit unless you abide in Me. I am the Vine; you are the branches. Whoever lives in Me and I in him bears much (abundant) fruit. However, apart from Me [cut off from vital union with Me] you can do nothing….
When you bear (produce) much fruit, My Father is honored and glorified, and you show and prove yourselves to be true followers of Mine…. You have not chosen Me, but I have chosen you and I have appointed you [I have planted you], that you might go and bear fruit and keep on bearing, and that your fruit may be lasting [that it may remain, abide], so that whatever you ask the Father in My Name [as presenting all that I AM], He may give it to you.” John 15v1-5, 8, 16 (AMP)
Prayer
“Now may the God of peace [Who is the Author and the Giver of peace], Who brought again from among the dead our Lord Jesus, that great Shepherd of the sheep, by the blood [that sealed, ratified] the everlasting agreement (covenant, testament), Strengthen (complete, perfect) and make you what you ought to be and equip you with everything good that you may carry out His will; [while He Himself] works in you and accomplishes that which is pleasing in His sight, through Jesus Christ (the Messiah); to Whom be the glory forever and ever (to the ages of the ages). Amen (so be it).” Hebrews 13v20-21(AMP)
