Pleasing Him

Hello everyone,

How are you doing on this day? I hope well and bubbling in the Lord. We thank God for His will, and the ability to please Him through the knowledge of that will.

Primary Text: Colossians 1v9-10
“For this reason, since the day we heard about you, we have not stopped praying for you and asking God to fill you with the knowledge of His will through all spiritual wisdom and understanding. And we pray this in order that you may live a life worthy of the Lord and may please Him in every way: …” Colossians 1v9-10 (NIV)

Do you desire to please God in every way? Through the knowledge of His will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding, we can indeed live a life that would honor God and please Him. For example, you can give someone a gift, but if you did not really know them, you may end up giving them something that they dislike. Compare this with knowing someone, their plans, their purposes, their pleasures, and meeting that. You may also know what someone likes and decide to do your own thing. How does this person view disobedience? Having a knowledge of God’s will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding enables you to live a life worthy of the Lord and pleasing Him in every way. A classic example will be Cain and Abel. Why was Abel’s gift accepted and Cain’s rejected? What was the different in their offerings? (Genesis 4v1-16)

Supplementary Text:
“Do not be conformed to this world (this age), [fashioned after and adapted to its external, superficial customs], but be transformed (changed) by the [entire] renewal of your mind [by its new ideals and its new attitude], so that you may prove [for yourselves] what is the good and acceptable and perfect will of God, even the thing which is good and acceptable and perfect [in His sight for you].” Romans 12v2 (AMP)

“Above all, you must live as citizens of heaven, conducting yourselves in a manner worthy of the Good News about Christ. Then, whether I come and see you again or only hear about you, I will know that you are standing together with one spirit and one purpose, fighting together for the faith, which is the Good News.” Philippians 1v27 (NLT)

“That ye would walk worthy of God, who hath called you unto His kingdom and glory.” 1 Thessalonians 2v12 (KJV)

“FURTHERMORE, BRETHREN, we beg and admonish you in [virtue of our union with] the Lord Jesus, that [you follow the instructions which] you learned from us about how you ought to walk so as to please and gratify God, as indeed you are doing, [and] that you do so even more and more abundantly [attaining yet greater perfection in living this life].” 1 Thessalonians 4v1 (AMP)

Prayer
Father, I thank You for Your Word. I pray that we might be filled with the knowledge of Your will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding in Jesus name, amen.
