Labor not…. To be rich 4

Hello everyone,

How are you doing on this day? I hope well and bubbling in the Lord. We thank God for His goodness, His faithfulness, and His mercies that endureth forever.

Primary Text: Proverbs 23v4&5
“Labour not to be rich: cease from thine own wisdom. Wilt thou set thine eyes upon that which is not? for riches certainly make themselves wings; they fly away as an eagle toward heaven.” Proverbs 23v4&5 (KJV)

“Weary not yourself to be rich; cease from your own [human] wisdom. Will you set your eyes upon your wealth, when [suddenly] it is gone? For riches certainly make themselves wings, like an eagle that flies toward the heavens.” Proverbs 23v4&5 (AMP)

So, have you ever taken a walk or looked around and taken time to consider the lilies of the field. Or perhaps the roses, or tulips or … Flowers are beautiful, but God is saying that even Solomon wasn’t dressed as much as nice as this. Now, if God clothes the lilies of the valley, how much more you? Someone dear to me will say, it is God that clothes her. And she usually looks nice too. Have you ever wondered how the fowls of the air eat? They do not really have farms in the sky for them to sow and reap, but God feeds them. Are you not better than them? Guess what – God knows you have need of food, and drink, and clothes, and He is a good God. So, if we are not to be taking thought for these things, what should we do then? Take thought for the kingdom of God.

Supplementary Text:
“If you decide for God, living a life of God-worship, it follows you don’t fuss about what’s on the table at mealtimes or whether the clothes in your closet are in fashion. There is far more to your life than the food you put in your stomach, more to your outer appearance than the clothes you hang on your body. Look at the birds, free and unfettered, not tied down to a job description, careless in the care of God. And you count far more to Him than birds. “Has anyone by fussing in front of the mirror ever gotten taller by so much as an inch? All this time and money wasted on fashion - do you think it makes that much difference? Instead of looking at the fashions, walk out into the fields and look at the wildflowers. They never primp or shop, but have you ever seen color and design quite like it? The ten best-dressed men and women in the country look shabby alongside them. "If God gives such attention to the appearance of wildflowers—most of which are never even seen—don't you think he'll attend to you, take pride in you, do his best for you? What I'm trying to do here is to get you to relax, to not be so preoccupied with getting, so you can respond to God's giving. People who don't know God and the way he works fuss over these things, but you know both God and how he works. Steep your life in God-reality, God-initiative, God-provisions. Don't worry about missing out. You'll find all your everyday human concerns will be met. "Give your entire attention to what God is doing right now, and don't get worked up about what may or may not happen tomorrow. God will help you deal with whatever hard things come up when the time comes.” Matthew 6v25-34, MSG

“Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what shall we drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment? Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they? Which of you by taking thought can add one cubit into his stature? And why take ye thought for raiment? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they toil not, neither do they spin: And yet I say unto you, That even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. Wherefore, if God so clothe the grass of the field, which to day is, and tomorrow is cast into the oven, shall He not much more clothe you, O ye of little faith? Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed? (For after all these things do Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of these things. But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and His righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil therefore.” Matthew 6v25-34, KJV
