Unwanted dealings
Hello everyone,
How are you doing on this day? I hope well and bubbling in the Lord. We thank God for His goodness, His faithfulness, His kindness, His grace. There are some dealings which God may be saying we should walk away from. For instance, the Bible says “Do not be unequally yoked with unbelievers [do not make mismated alliances with them or come under a different yoke with them, inconsistent with your faith]. For what partnership have right living and right standing with God with iniquity and lawlessness? Or how can light have fellowship with darkness? What harmony can there be between Christ and Belial [the devil]? Or what has a believer in common with an unbeliever” (2 Corinthians 6v14-15, AMP). But sometimes we may have already gotten into a situation, something where we seem to have invested into it – perhaps a business deal, a relationship, a class, a ministry…. with other people, but if God isn’t in support of it, it may be time to walk away. We see a situation with King Amaziah, who became king at 25 years old, “And he did what was right in the sight of the LORD, but not with a perfect heart” (2 Chronicles 25v2, KJV). And the Bible records that:
Primary Text:
“He hired also an hundred thousand mighty men of valour out of Israel for an hundred talents of silver. But there came a man of God to him, saying, O king, let not the army of Israel go with thee; for the LORD is not with Israel, to wit, with all the children of Ephraim. But if thou wilt go, do it; be strong for the battle: God shall make thee fall before the enemy: for God hath power to help, and to cast down. And Amaziah said to the man of God, But what shall we do for the hundred talents which I have given to the army of Israel? And the man of God answered, The LORD is able to give thee much more than this.” 2 Chronicles 25:6-9 (King James Version)
“He also paid about 7,500 pounds of silver to hire 100,000 experienced fighting men of Israel. But a man of God came to him and said, “Your Majesty, do not hire troops from Israel, for the LORD is not with Israel. He will not help those people of Epharim! If you let them go with your troops into battle, you will be defeated by the enemy no matter how well you fight. God will overthrow you, for He has power to help you or to trip you up.” Amaziah asked the man of God, “But what about all that silver I paid to hire the army of Israel?” The man of God replied, “The LORD is able to give you much more than this!” 2 Chronicles 25:6-9 (New Living Translation)
Perhaps God is calling you out of a place, a situation, a relationship, a job…. He called Abraham out, and He blessed him exceedingly. God is able to give you much more than what you think you will be losing. When you serve the Lord, you do not do it in vain. When you obey the Lord, it is not in vain.
Supplementary Text:
“Now the LORD had said unto Abram, Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and from thy father’s house, unto a land that I will shew thee: And I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great; and thou shalt be a blessing: And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee: and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed” Genesis 12v1-3 (KJV)
“Then Peter began to speak up. “We’ve given up everything to follow you,” he said. “Yes,” Jesus replied, “and I assure you that everyone who has given up house or brothers or sisters or mother or father or children or property, for My sake and for the Good News, will receive now in return a hundred times as many houses, brothers, sisters, mothers, children, and property – along with persecution. And in the world to come that person will have eternal life. But many who are the greatest now will be the least important then, and those who seem least important now will be the greatest then.” Mark 10v27-31 (NLT)
