Peace (3)

Hello everyone,

How are you today? I hope well and bubbling in the Lord.

Primary Text
“… May grace (spiritual blessing) and peace be given you in increasing abundance [that spiritual peace to be realized in and through Christ, freedom from fears, agitating passions, and moral conflicts].” 1 Peter 1v2 (AMP)

God’s peace also replaces agitating passions. A passion can be “any powerful or compelling emotion or feeling” (www.dictionary.com). As human beings, we are subject to various passions – love, hate, joy, sorrow, sexual desires, anger, lust, cravings e.t.c. Something which is agitating could entail something which moves or forces into violent, irregular action; to move to and fro; impart regular motion to; to disturb or excite emotionally; arouse; perturb (www.dictionary.com). When speaking of the parable of the sower, the seed that is sown among the thorns are described as “others who hear the Word; Then the cares and anxieties of the world and distractions of the age, and the pleasure and delight and false glamour and deceitfulness of riches, and the craving and passionate desire for other things creep in and choke and suffocate the Word, and it becomes fruitless.” (Mark 4v18-19, AMP). However, agitating, and lustful passions for other things can draw us away from God, causing us to yearn for, find fulfillment in things outside of God. They can also cause acts to be carried out which are contrary to what God would like. This is the norm for those who do not have Christ. But as children who are foreknown, chosen, sanctified by the Spirit unto obedience of Christ, and sprinkled by the blood of Jesus, we become new creatures. Through the Spirit of God, we can put to death the deeds of the flesh (Romans 8v13; Galatians 5v24). The Bible says:

Supplementary Text
“For the grace of God (His unmerited favor and blessing) has come forward (appeared) for the deliverance from sin and the eternal salvation for all mankind. It has trained us to reject and renounce all ungodliness (irreligion) and worldly (passionate) desires, to live discreet (temperate, self-controlled), upright, devout (spiritually whole) lives in this present world, Awaiting and looking for the [fulfillment, the realization of our] blessed hope, even the glorious appearing of our great God and Savior Christ Jesus (the Messiah, the Anointed One),” Titus 2v11-13 (AMP).

Father, thank You for salvation in Jesus name, amen.
