Peter!

Hello everyone,

How are you today? I hope well and bubbling in the Lord. The Word says “For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope.” (Romans 15v4). We can look at the lives of those who have gone before us, from Adam to the Paul and learn many things. One of such people we can learn from is Peter.

Primary Text
“Peter, an apostle of Jesus Christ....” 1 Peter 1v1 (KJV)

Peter, Simon, was a fisherman, that God made a fisher of men. The Bible records “Now as He walked by the sea of Galilee, He saw Simon and Andrew his brother casting a net into the sea: for they were fishers. And Jesus said unto them, Come ye after Me, and I will make you to become fishers of men. And straightway they forsook their nets, and followed Him.” (Mark 1v16-18). God can use anyone. Peter, and Andrew, were fishermen, as were James and John who were the sons of Zebedee; and Matthew, a tax-collector. It doesn’t matter who your parents are, where you are from, what your profession is, or even if you were unlearned. Jesus can make you into what He wants you to be. The Bible says “Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, and perceived that they were unlearned and ignorant men, they marveled; and they took knowledge of them, that they had been with Jesus.” (Acts 4v13). Similarly, if anyone wanted to boast in the flesh, being a Pharisee, circumcised the 8th day, persecuting the Church in his zeal, Paul could (see Philippians 3v5-6). But he writes of how “For some say, “Paul’s letters are demanding and forceful, but in person he is weak and his speeches are worthless!” (2 Corinthians 10v10, NLT). Moses too complained of being slow of speech. Your background, profession, whether you are short or tall, educated or uneducated doesn’t limit God from using you. God chooses us, ordains us, and empowers us with His Spirit to do what needs to be done.

Supplementary Text
“And my message and my preaching were very plain. Rather than using clever and persuasive speeches, I relied only on the power of the Holy Spirit.” 1 Corinthians 2v4 (NLT)

Father, here I am, use me in Jesus name, amen.
