Yielding!

Hello everyone,

How are you today? I hope well and bubbling in the Lord.

Primary Text:
“If the temper of the ruler rises up against you, do not leave your place [or show a resisting spirit]; for gentleness and calmness prevent or put a stop to great offenses.” Ecclesiastes 10v4 (AMP)

“If your boss is angry with you, don’t quit! A quiet spirit can overcome even great mistakes.” Ecclesiastes 10v4 (NLT)

This is wisdom – better “than strength …” and “weapons of war” (Ecclesiastes 9v16, 18). Perhaps you have offended God, your boss, a parent, a pastor, or to someone who is placed above you, don’t storm off, endure. You may feel you are being unjustly treated, but Proverbs 15v1 (NLT) says “A gentle answer deflects anger, but harsh words make tempers flare.” For David, when God sent Nathan to tell him that he had sinned, he said “I have sinned against the LORD.” (2 Samuel 12v13). Compare this to Eli, when Samuel told him what the Lord had said, he said “It is the LORD: let Him do what seemeth Him good.” (1 Samuel 4v18). Yes, we know that God is God and HE does what pleaseth Him, but we also know that God is merciful. If God is angry with you, don’t leave His presence. Ask for His mercy, and His forgiveness. Tell Him how sorry you are, and that you love Him too much to live without His presence and favor. Imagine Ahab, which the Bible describes as “But there was none like unto Ahab, which did sell himself to work wickedness in the sight of the LORD …” (1 Kings 21v25). Yet, when God sent Elijah to him to tell him what he would befall him, the Bible records:

Supplementary Text
“And it came to pass, when Ahab heard those words, that he rent his clothes, and put sackcloth upon his flesh, and fasted, and lay in sackcloth, and went softly. And the word of the LORD came to Elijah the Tishbite, saying, Seest thou how Ahab humbleth himself before Me? because he humbleth himself before Me, I will not bring the evil in his days: but in his son’s days will I bring the evil upon his house.” 1 Kings 21v27-29

Father, we repent of any sin toward You, and ask that You cloth us with humility in Jesus name, amen.
