Start Early!

Hello everyone,

How are you today? I hope well and bubbling in the Lord.

Primary Text:
“Train up a child in the way he should go [and in keeping with his individual gift or bent], and when he is old he will not depart from it.” Proverbs 22v6 (AMP)

To train can mean “to develop or form the habits, thoughts, or behavior of (a child or other person) by discipline and instruction.” (www.dictionary.com). What values, habits, thoughts, or behavior are you developing in your child? Are you teaching them to fear the Lord, respect others, work hard, obedience, or are you encouraging a disrespect of God. Through your actions and your relating with them, do you show them that the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom? God was angry with Eli, because he gave his children more honor than God (1 Samuel 2v12-35). Train your children, one day they would thank you for it. Even our heavenly Father disciplines those us, and you cannot say He doesn’t love us (Hebrews 12v5-11). I remember when I was younger, not even ten years old, and I used to steal money. When my mother caught me, she disciplined me so much that afterwards, I didn’t do it anymore. Think over your ways and your lifestyle and see how it would affect your child in the long run. Bible tells us, “My child, listen when your father corrects you. Don’t neglect your mother’s instruction. What you learn from them will crown you with grace and be a chain of honor around your neck.” (Proverbs 1v8-9, NLT). And it’s amazing that even as an adult, you find yourself imagining what your mother for instance will say in a particular situation. Also, it is not too early to pray for your children, even when they are not born, that they will be God fearing, obedient, fulfill their God given purpose in life …

Supplementary Text
“For the Lord corrects and disciplines everyone whom He loves, and HE punishes, even scourges, every son whom He accepts and welcomes to His heart and cherishes.” Hebrews 12v6 (AMP)

Father, we thank You because children are gifts from You. We commit all our children to You, and pray for the wisdom, grace, and all necessary resources to raise them up in the fear of the Lord, in Jesus name, amen.
