The End of a Thing
Hello everyone,
How are you doing on this day? I hope well and bubbling in the Lord.
Primary Text
“Better is the end of a thing than the beginning thereof: and the
patient in spirit is better than the proud in spirit.” Ecclesiastes 7v8 (KJV)
“It is better to finish something than to start it. It is better to be
gentle and patient than to be proud and impatient.” Ecclesiastes 7v8 (ERV)
There is a difference between embarking on something, and finishing it.
In each of our lives, we would see that there are days, things, projects,
endeavours, relationships, jobs and so on that we have started. But the Bible
lets us know that the end of the thing, finishing a thing is better than
starting it. Not everyone who starts a thing finishes it. For most things that
are completed, it takes patience, diligence, perseverance, and for the Lord to
be at the centre of it. Jesus started and finished His earthly race, and He is
able to help us as well. Hebrews 12v2 (AMP) telling us that “Looking away [from
all that will distract] to Jesus, Who is the Leader and the Source of our faith
[giving the first incentive for our belief] and is also its Finisher [bringing
it to maturity and perfection]. He, for the joy [of obtaining the prize] that
was set before Him, endured the cross, despising and ignoring the shame, and is
now seated at the right hand of the throne of God.” In addition, Psalm 127v1 (TLB)
reminds us “Unless the Lord builds a house, the builder’s work is useless.
Unless the Lord protects a city, sentries do no good.” Beloved, how successful
have you been in the things you have started? Is Christ at the center of it?
There may be twists and turns but Jesus is able to bring everything to a
successful completion, making everything beautiful in it’s own time. Let Him
take the reins, don’t be discouraged and keep the faith.
Prayer
Father, we thank You all that You are to us. Thank You Lord Jesus for
being the Author and the Finisher of our faith. Thank You precious Holy Spirit
for comforting, helping, advocating for, strengthening, interceding for, and
standing by us even as we go through every project and life’s journey. We pray
Lord that You will be the Builder of all that pertains to us. We pray that like
those referred to in Hebrews 6v12 we would not be slothful, but followers of
them who through faith and patience inherit the promises. We thank You, we love
You and we pray for those who do not know You, that You would send labourers to
them in Jesus name, amen.
