Gifts (6)

Hello everyone,
How are you doing on this day? I hope well and bubbling in the Lord. We thank God for the spiritual gifts that He has given to us as His children.

Primary Text: Ephesians 4v8
“Wherefore He saith, When He ascended up on high, He led captivity captive, and gave gifts unto men.” Ephesians 4v8

Isn’t it amazing that God has given us different gifts, talents, qualities, that enable us to do certain things well. For instance, some have the gift of prophecy, some of practical service, some of teaching. Some may receive their gift through the laying of hands, like we see in the life of Timothy. But the important thing is that even as we have received these gifts, we ought to use them. Let’s not bury them like the servant in the parable of the talents (Matthew 25v18), or try to be someone else. That’s why it is good to identify what your gift is. You can ask God to particularly show you which gift or gifts He has given to you, and you can assess yourself by the Word, or perhaps ask a fellow believer who is close to you and you trust to confirm it for you.

Supplementary Text
“In His grace, God has given us different gifts for doing certain things well. So if God has given you the ability to prophesy, speak out with as much faith as God has given you. If your gift is serving others, serve them well. If you are a teacher, teach well. If your gift is to encourage others, be encouraging. If it is giving, give generously. If God has given you leadership ability, take the responsibility seriously. And if you have a gift for showing kindness to others, do it gladly.” Romans 12v6-8 (NLT)

“Do not neglect the gift which is in you, [that special inward endowment] which was directly imparted to you [by the Holy Spirit] by prophetic utterance when the elders laid their hands upon you [at your ordination].” 1 Timothy 4v14 (AMP)

“That is why I would remind you to stir up (rekindle the embers of, fan the flame of, and keep burning) the [gracious] gift of God, [the inner fire] that is in you by means of the laying on of my hands [with those of the elders at your ordination]. For God did not give us a spirit of timidity (of cowardice, of craven and cringing and fawning fear), but [He has given us a spirit] of power and of love and of calm and well-balanced mind and discipline and self-control.” 2 Timothy 1v6-7 (AMP)

“As each of you has received a gift (a particular spiritual talent, a gracious divine endowment), employ it for one another as [befits] good trustees of God’s many-sided grace [faithful stewards of the extremely diverse powers and gifts granted to Christians by unmerited favor].” 1 Peter 4v10 (AMP)

Prayer
Father in heaven, I thank You very much for the gift that You have given to me. May I use it to the glory of Your name in Jesus name, amen.
