Faith and Patience (2)

Hello everyone,

How are you doing on this day? I hope well and bubbling in the Lord. We thank God for His grace, His mercies, and His Word. We thank Him because we can learn from the lives of those of who inherited promises in the Bible, even as we fight the good fight of faith (1 Timothy 6v12).

Primary Text: Hebrews 11v8-10
“By faith Abraham, when he was called to go out into a place which he should after receive for an inheritance obeyed; and he went out, not knowing whither he went. By faith he sojourned in the land of promise, as in a strange country, dwelling in tabernacles with Isaac and Jacob, the heirs with him of the same promise: For he looked for a city which hath foundations, whose builder and maker is God.” Hebrews 11v8-10 (KJV)

“[Urged on] by faith Abraham, when he was called, obeyed and went forth to a place which he was destined to receive as an inheritance; and he went, although he did not know or trouble his mind about where he was to go. [Prompted] by faith he dwelt as a temporary resident in the land which was designated in the promise [of God, though he was like a stranger] in a strange country, living in tents with Isaac and Jacob, fellow heirs with him of the same promise. For he was [waiting expectantly and confidently] looking forward to the city which has fixed and firm foundations, whose Architect and Builder is God.” Hebrews 11v8-10 (AMP)

We can say that Abraham epitomized belief in the verse that says: “For I know the thoughts and plans that I have for you, says the Lord, thoughts and plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you hope in your final outcome.” Jeremiah 29v11 (AMP). He believed God enough to venture into the unknown and wait on Him to give him his inheritance. God gave Abram such incredible promises, such as we see in Genesis 12v1-5, and Abram on his part, took the first step in actualizing these promises, by leaving his country, kindred, and father’s house, unto a land that God will shew him. Did Abram ask God where the land was? Did Abram compare his present status to the expected place that God had spoken to him of? What was Abram’s reaction to God’s call? Obedience!

Supplementary Text
“Now the LORD had said unto Abram, Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and from thy father’s house, unto a land that I will shew thee: And I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great; and thou shalt be a blessing: And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee: and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed. So Abram departed, as the LORD had spoken unto him; and Lot went with him: and Abram was seventy and five years old when he departed out of Haran.” Genesis 12v1-5

Prayer
Father in heaven, we thank You for Your promises and Your plans for each of our lives. We pray today O God for the grace to do all of Your will, all of the time, and to step out in obedience to every instruction You give, in Jesus name, amen.
