Forbearing one another in love
Hello everyone,
How are you doing on this day? I hope well and bubbling in the Lord. We indeed thank God for who He is, His grace, His mercy and His love for us. He is worthy to be praised.
Primary Text: Ephesians 4v1&2
“I THEREFORE, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you that ye walk worthy of the vocation wherewith ye are called, With all lowliness and meekness with longsuffering, forbearing one another in love” Ephesians 4v1&2 (KJV)
Peter once came to Jesus “and asked, “Lord, how often should I forgive someone who sins against me? Seven times?” “No, not seven times,” Jesus replied, “but seventy times seven!” (Matthew 18v21-22). It would be pretty difficult for any one person to offend another person 490 times. That’s even more than the 360(/361) days there are in a year☺ In our Christian walk, we have been asked to forbear one another in love. Let us be patient with one another, kind to one another, not be jealous or brag or be proud… Let’s not be rude, or selfish, or get upset… When someone does you wrong, let’s not keep counting it and holding on to them. These are some of the attributes of love as we see in 1 Corinthians 13.
Supplementary Text
“Love is patient and kind. Love is not jealous, it does not brag, and it is not proud. Love is not rude, is not selfish, and does not get upset with others. Love does not count up wrongs that have been done. Love takes no pleasure in evil but rejoices over the truth. Love patiently accepts all things. It always trusts, always hopes, and always endures. Love never ends …” 1 Corinthians 13v4-8 (New Century Version)
“Clothe yourselves therefore, as God’s own chosen ones (His own picked representatives), [who are] purified and holy and well-beloved [by God Himself, by putting on behavior marked by] tenderhearted pity and mercy, kind feeling, a lowly opinion of yourselves, gentle ways, [and] patience [which is tireless and long-suffering, and has the power to endure whatever comes, with good temper]. Be gentle and forbearing with one another and, if one has a difference (a grievance or complaint) against another, readily pardoning each other; even as the Lord has [freely] forgiven you, so must you also [forgive]. And above all these [put on] love and enfold yourselves with the bond of perfectness [which binds everything together completely in ideal harmony].” Colossians 3v12-14 (Amplified Bible)
“Do not owe people anything, except always owe love to each other, because the person who loves others has obeyed all the law.” Romans 13v8 (New Century Version)
Have a very blessed day.
