Unity

Hello everyone,

How are you doing on this day? I hope well and bubbling in the Lord. The Bible tells us of how good and pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity (Psalm 133v1).

Primary Text: Ephesians 4v3
“Endeavouring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace” Ephesians 4v3(KJV)

“Make every effort to keep yourselves united in the Spirit, binding yourselves together with peace.” Ephesians 4v3 (New Living Translation)

“Be eager and strive earnestly to guard and keep the harmony and oneness of [and produced by] the Spirit in the binding power of peace.” Ephesians 4v3 (AMP)

From the above verse, we see that we are unified by the Spirit, in the bond of peace. However, keeping that unity, which we are encouraged to do, might require some effort on our part; something we might have to work at. This is not surprising as we find that even though we are one body in Christ, this body is made up of people with different personalities, backgrounds, families e.t.c. One reason why it is important to keep unified, is because we need one another. Again: “… Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation; and a house divided against a house falleth.” Luke 11v17. The book of Proverbs might be helpful in seeing different tactics which we can use to ensure that we keep the peace.

Supplementary Texts
“Blessed are the peace makers: for they shall be called the children of God.” Matthew 6v9

“Work at living in peace with everyone, and work at living a holy life, for those who are not holy will not see the Lord. Look after each other so that none of you fails to receive the grace of God. Watch out that no poisonous root of bitterness grows up to trouble you, corrupting many.” Hebrews 14&15 (NLT)

“He who belittles and despises his neighbor lacks sense, but a man of understanding keeps silent.” Proverbs 11v12 (AMP)

“Never pay back evil with more evil. Do things in such a way that everyone can see you are honorable. Do all that you can to live in peace with everyone. Dear friends, never take revenge. Leave that to the righteous anger of God. For the Scriptures say, “I will take revenge; I will pay them back,” says the LORD.” Romans 12v17-19 (NLT)

Have a very blessed day.

Prayer
Father we thank You for the unity we have through the Spirit. I pray for the grace to maintain this unity in the name of Jesus, amen.
