Extending God’s Love
Hello everyone,
How are you doing on this day? I hope well and bubbling in the Lord. We thank God for all that He is to us. To what extent are we reflecting the kind of relationship God has with us. The love, kindness, forgiveness, compassion, discipline, friendship, He has with us, how do we extend that to others?
Primary Text: Matthew 18v23-35
“Therefore is the kingdom of heaven likened unto a certain king, which would take account of his servants. And when he had begun to reckon, one was brought unto him, which owed him ten thousand talents. But forasmuch as he had not to pay, his lord commanded him to be sold, and his wife, and children, and all that he had, and payment to be made. The servant therefore fell down, and worshipped him, saying, Lord, have patience with me, and I will pay thee all. Then the lord of that servant was moved with compassion, and loosed him, and forgave him the debt. But the same servant went out, and found one of his fellowservants, which owed him an hundered pence: and he laid hands on him, and took him by the throat, saying, Pay me that thou owest. And his fellowservant fell down at his feet, and besought him, saying, Have patience with me, and I will pay thee all. And he would not: but went and cast him into prison, till he should pay the debt. So when his fellowservants saw what was done, they were very sorry, and came and told unto their lord all that was done. Then his lord, after that he had called him, said unto him, O thou wicked servant, I forgave thee all that debt, because thou desiredst me: Shouldest not thou also have had compassion on thy fellowservant, even as I had pity on thee? And his lord was wroth, and delivered him to the tormentors, till he should pay all that was due unto him. So likewise shall my heavenly Father do also unto you, if ye from your hearts forgive not every one his brother their trespasses.” Matthew 18v23-35
Let’s not have two standards for one another. It is easy for us to ask God to forgive us for something, we won’t do it again, or expect Him to understand something we do. But when it comes to others, sometimes we are quick to judge or draw conclusions, or point fingers. What if we begin to see each other as children of God as well, who are trying to please God, and though sometimes we stumble, we have each other to encourage and love and help us along the way. We do not owe one another judgment, condemnation, criticism, but love.
Supplementary Text:
“For you, brethren, were [indeed] called to freedom; only [do not let your] freedom be an incentive to your flesh and an opportunity or excuse [for selfishness], but through love you should serve one another. For the whole Law [concerning human relationships] is complied with in the one precept, You shall love your neighbor as [you do] yourself. But if you bite and devour one another [in partisan strife], be careful that you [and your whole fellowship] are not consumed by one another…. If we live by the [Holy] Spirit, let us also walk by the Spirit. [If by the Holy Spirit we have our life in God, let us go forward walking in line, our conduct controlled by the Spirit.] Let us not become vainglorious and self-conceited, competitive and challenging and provoking and irritating to one another, envying and being jealous of one another.” Galatians 5v13-15, 25-26 (AMP)
“Keep out of debt and owe no man anything, except to love one another; for he who loves his neighbor [who practices loving others] has fulfilled the Law [relating to one’s fellowmen, meeting all its requirements].” Romans 13v8 (AMP)
Prayer
Father, I thank You so much for Your Word today. Thank You for loving us o God, and showing us what love is. Father I pray that You will fill our hearts with love for one another, that we would not use our liberty as an occasion to the flesh, but we would use it to serve one another. I pray O Lord that You will make us to increase and excel and overflow in love for one another and for all people, so that You may strengthen and confirm and establish our hearts faultlessly pure and unblamable in holiness in the sight of our God and Father, at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ with all His saints in Jesus name, amen.
