Let Peace Rule!
Hello everyone,
How are you doing on this day? I hope well and bubbling in the Lord. What are you allowing to rule in your heart – worries, fears, anxieties. One verse I have allowed to be a constant companion ☺ these past few days is Colossians 3v15, and it says that you should let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts. The Greek word for rule here is brabeuo which means to be an umpire, to arbitrate, direct and govern (Dakes Concordance).
Primary Text: Colossians 3v15
“And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are also called in one body; and be ye thankful.” Colossians 3v15 (KJV)
“And let the peace (soul harmony which comes) from Christ rule (act as umpire continually) in your hearts [deciding and settling with finality all questions that arise in your minds, in that peaceful state] to which as [members of Christ’s] one body you were also called [to live]. And be thankful (appreciative), [giving praise to God always].” Colossians 3v15 (AMP)
“And let the peace that comes from Christ rule in your hearts. For as members of one body you are called to live in peace. And always be thankful.” Colossians 3v15 (NLT)
“Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful.” Colossians 3v15 (NIV)
“Let the peace that Christ gives control your thinking, because you were all called together in one body to have peace. Always be thankful.” Colossians 3v15 (NCV)
“Let the peace of Christ keep you in tune with each other, in step with each other. None of this going off and doing your own thing. And cultivate thankfulness.” Colossians 3v15 (MSG)
Before Jesus left, He told His disciples, I am giving you My peace as a gift. Jesus’ peace was such that He could sleep in the midst of the storm. Stop allowing yourself to be agitated and disturbed and cowardly and frightened and intimidated, regardless of the situation. Know that God is with you. Philippians 4v6 also lets us know not to be anxious, but to pray. Again, we see Jesus praying when He was in the garden of Gethsemane and going through a tough time. James also says is any afflicted, let him pray (James 5v13). Talk to the Lord about every and all circumstance, and let His peace always rule in your heart.
Supplementary Text:
“Peace I leave with you; My [own] peace I now give and bequeath to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Do not let your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid. [Stop allowing yourselves to be agitated and disturbed; and do not permit yourselves to be fearful and intimidated and cowardly and unsettled.]” John 14v26 (AMP)
“I am leaving you with a gift – peace of mind and heart. And the peace I give is a gift the world cannot give. So don’t be troubled or afraid.” John 14v27 (NLT)
“Do not fret or have any anxiety about anything, but in every circumstance and in everything, by prayer and petition (definite requests), with thanksgiving, continue to make your wants known to God. And God’s peace [shall be yours, that tranquil state of a soul assured of its salvation through Christ, and so fearing nothing from God and being content with its earthly lot of whatever sort that is, that peace] which transcends all understanding shall garrison and mount guard over your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4v6-7 (AMP)
Prayer
Father, thank You for Your peace. Thank You Father, Son and Holy Spirit in Jesus name, amen.
