Pleasing God

Hello everyone,

How are you doing on this day? I hope well and bubbling in the Lord. The Bible tells us to “Take delight in the LORD, and He will give you your heart’s desires.” Psalm 37v4 (NLT). Are you allowing God to be your full sufficiency or are you allowing your carnal self to dominate your lifestyle?

Primary Text: Romans 8v7-8
“Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be. So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God.” Romans 8v7-8 (KJV)

“[That is] because the mind of the flesh [with its carnal thoughts and purposes] is hostile to God, for it does not submit itself to God’s Law; indeed it cannot. So then those who are living the life of the flesh [catering to the appetites and impulses of their carnal nature] cannot please or satisfy God, or be acceptable to Him.” Romans 8v7-8 (AMP)

“For the sinful nature is always hostile to God. It never did obey God’s laws, and it never will. That’s why those who are still under the control of their sinful nature can never please God.” Romans 8v7-8 (NLT)

Are you ignoring God by placing yourself and desires above Him. The fact is that the sinful nature cannot obey God’s law, it cannot submit itself to God. For instance, the Bible tells us that you cannot serve God and mammon – you will love the one and hate the other. You can’t be in between. We know too that friendship with the world is enmity with God.

Supplementary Text:
“No servant is able to serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will stand by and be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon (riches, or anything in which you trust and on which you rely). Now the Pharisees, who were covetous and lovers of money, heard all these things [taken together], and they began to sneer at and ridicule and scoff at Him. But He said to them, You are the ones who declare yourselves just and upright before men, but God knows your hearts. For what is exalted and highly thought of among men is detestable and abhorrent (an abomination) in the sight of God. [1 Sam.16:7; Prov. 21:2.]” Luke 16v13-15 (AMP)

“Do not love or cherish the world or the things that are in the world. If anyone loves the world, love for the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world -- the lust of the flesh [craving for sensual gratification] and the lust of the eyes [greedy longings of the mind] and the pride of life [assurance in one’s own resources or in the stability of earthly things] -- these do not come from the Father but are from the world [itself]. And the world passes away and disappears, and with it the forbidden cravings (the passionate desires, the lust) of it; but he who does the will of God and carries out His purposes in his life abides (remains) forever.” 1 John 2v15-17 (AMP)

“You adulterers! Don’t you realize that friendship with the world makes you an enemy of God? I say it again: If you want to be a friend of the world, you make yourself an enemy of God. What do you think the Scriptures mean when they say that the spirit God has placed within us is filled with envy? But He gives us even more grace to stand against such evil desires. As the Scriptures say, “God opposes the proud but favors the humble.” So humble yourselves before God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.” James 4v4-7 (NLT)

Prayer
Father, I thank You for Your Word in Jesus name, amen. Thank You for Your Spirit in us o God, I pray for more grace to stand for You and yield to You and be completely sold out for You in Jesus name, amen.
