… Minded!
Hello everyone,
How are you doing on this day? I hope well and bubbling in the Lord. How “minded” are you? Are you spiritually minded or flesh oriented?
Primary Text: Romans 8v5
“For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit.” Romans 8v5 (KJV)
“For those who are according to the flesh and are controlled by its unholy desires set their minds on and pursue those things which gratify the flesh, but those who are according to the Spirit and are controlled by the desires of the Spirit set their minds on and seek those things which gratify the [Holy] Spirit.” Romans 8v5 (AMP)
“Those who are dominated by the sinful nature think about sinful things, but those who are controlled by the Holy Spirit think about things that please the Spirit.” Romans 8v5 (NLT)
“Those who live following their sinful selves think only about things that their sinful selves want. But those who live following the Spirit are thinking about the things the Spirit wants them to do.” Romans 8v5 (NCV)
“Those who think they can do it on their own end up obsessed with measuring their own moral muscle but never get around to exercising it in real life. Those who trust God’s action in them find that God’s Spirit is in them – living and breathing God!” Romans 8v5 (MSG)
The Dakes concordance comments that “Those who set their affections on the sins of the flesh of Gal. 5:19-21; 1 Cor 6:9-11; Col 3:5-10; Rom. 1:29-32; Mk. 7:21-22 will naturally fulfill them (Jas 1:13-15). Those who set their affections on the things of the Spirit of Gal. 5:22-23; 1 Cor. 12:4-11; Col. 3:12-14 will naturally fulfill them and such will not commit sin…” What are you setting your affections on?
Supplementary Text:
“And remember, when you are being tempted, do not say, “God is tempting me.” God is never tempted to do wrong, and He never tempts anyone else. Temptation comes from our own desires, which entice us and drag us away. These desires give birth to sinful actions. And when sin is allowed to grow, it gives birth to death.” James 1v13-15 (NLT)
“Do not be deceived and deluded and misled; God will not allow Himself to be sneered at (scorned, disdained, or mocked by mere pretensions or professions, or by His precepts being set aside.) [He inevitably deludes himself who attempts to delude God.] For whatever a man sows, that and that only is what he will reap. For he who sows to his own flesh (lower nature, sensuality) will from the flesh reap decay and ruin and destruction, but he who sows to the Spirit will from the Spirit reap eternal life.” Galatians 6v7-8 (AMP)
“And so, dear brothers and sisters, I plead with you to give your bodies to God because of all He has done for you. Let them be a living and holy sacrifice – the kind He will find acceptable. This is truly the way to worship Him. Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.” Romans 12v1-2 (NLT)
Let’s examine ourselves and see what we are yielding to and seeking to please. Remember God is not mocked!
Prayer
Father, I thank You for Your Word in Jesus name, amen.
