A Word in Season
Hello everyone,
How are you doing on this day? I hope well and bubbling in the Lord. Sometimes we wish we had the right words to speak to people in certain situations. Now, sometimes, silence is key, but at other times, we may be called upon for advice or counsel. Or, a person may not even tell you what they are going through, but at that point in time, what they really need is a timely word. Again, it could be that you are brought before rulers and kings, because of your faith in God, then what do you say. Now the Bible says:
Primary Text: Proverbs 25:11
“A word fitly spoken and in due season is like apples of gold in settings of silver.” Proverbs 25v11 (AMP)
“Timely advice is lovely, like golden apples in a silver basket.” Proverbs 25v11 (NLT)
“The right word spoken at the right time is as beautiful as gold apples in a silver bowl.” Proverbs 25v11 (NCV)
Now, the Bible says, out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaks (Luke 6v45). If you saturate yourself with words that are not of God, and that is all that you are imbibing, at the end of the day, that may be all you will know to speak. But if you “Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect” (Romans 12v1, NLT). You know that God can teach you how to comfort those who are weary, by giving you His words of wisdom (Isaiah 40v4). Isn’t that wonderful! But remember, when we are delivered up for Jesus’ sake, and brought before kings and governors, don’t be anxious about how and what you are to speak, because in that same hour, the words to be spoken will be given you, for it is not you, but the Spirit of your Father in heaven who will speak through you (Matthew 10v17-20).
Supplementary Text
“A man has joy in making an apt answer, and a word spoken at the right moment -- how good it is! Proverbs 15v23 (AMP)
[The Servant of God says] The Lord God has given Me the tongue of a disciple and of one who is taught, that I should know how to speak a word in season to him who is weary. He wakens Me morning by morning, He wakens My ear to hear as a disciple [as one who is taught]. The Lord God has opened My ear, and I have not been rebellious or turned backward.” Isaiah 40v4-5 (AMP)
“It is the Spirit Who gives life [He is the Life-giver]; the flesh conveys no benefit whatever [there is no profit in it]. The words (truths) that I have been speaking to you are spirit and life.” John 6v63 (AMP)
“Let no foul or polluting language, nor evil word nor unwholesome or worthless talk [ever] come out of your mouth, but only such [speech] as is good and beneficial to the spiritual progress of others, as is fitting to the need and the occasion, that it may be a blessing and give grace (God’s favor) to those who hear it.” Ephesians 4v29 (AMP)
“A good man out of the good treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is evil: for of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaketh.” Luke 6v45 (KJV)
Prayer
Father, we thank You so much for Your Word today. We know Your words are spirit and life. Father, I want to be a vessel for Your glory, to speak what You want spoken, to speak a word in season to those who are weary. I submit myself to Your tutelage and pray You give me the tongue of a disciple and of one who is taught, that I should know how to speak a word in season to him who is weary. Waken me Lord morning by morning; waken my ear to hear as a disciple, and as one who is taught. I pray that as You open my ears, I will not be rebellious or turn backward in Jesus name, amen. Grant me the grace O God not to be rebellious or turn backward in Jesus name, amen. And may all the glory be to Your holy name now and forevermore in Jesus name, amen.
