The God of Hope
Hello everyone,
How are you doing on this day? I hope well and bubbling in the Lord. There are many things we hope for; faith being the assurance of the things that we hope for. As believers, something that we hope for, and have assurance about is that the Lord will come back for His church. But there are others things that we hope for even here on earth. Certain promises which the Lord gives to us as His children. Abraham for example, was told that He would be the father of many nations. Again, for those who received Jesus and believe on His name, they have been given the power to become sons of God (John 1v12). Also, we know we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us (Romans 8v37). But sometimes, there could seem so many contradictions to the fulfillment of the promises, no human reason for us to keep on hoping. But Romans 4:18, speaking of Abraham says:-
Primary Text: Romans 4v18
“Who against hope believed in hope, that he might become the father of many nations, according to that which was spoken, So shall thy seed be.” Romans 4v18 (KJV)
“[For Abraham, human reason for] hope being gone, hoped in faith that he should become the father of many nations, as he had been promised, So [numberless] shall your descendants be.” Romans 4v18 (AMP)
“Even when there was no reason for hope, Abraham kept hoping – believing that he would become the father of many nations. For God had said to him, “That’s how many descendants you will have!” Romans 4v18 (NLT)
“Against all hope, Abraham in hope believed and so became the father of many nations, just as it had been said to him, “So shall your offspring be.” Romans 4v18 (NIV)
Even when there is no reason for hope, keep on hoping and believing God for that which He has promised you. We thank God because we have been begotten unto a lively hope (1 Peter 1v3). Romans 15v13 says “Now the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that ye may abound in hope, through the power of the Holy Ghost.” Isn’t it wonderful that while we are believing in God, He can fill us with all joy and peace even as we wait on Him, and we can abound in hope through the power of the Holy Ghost. Awesome God!
Supplementary Text:
“May the God of your hope so fill you with all joy and peace in believing [through the experience of your faith] that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound and be overflowing (bubbling over) with hope.” Romans 15v13
“Why are you cast down, O my inner self? And why should you moan over me and be disquieted within me? Hope in God and wait expectantly for Him, for I shall yet praise Him, Who is the help of my countenance, and my God.” Psalm 42v11 (AMP)
“NOW FAITH is the assurance (the confirmation, the title deed) of the things [we] hope for, being the proof of things [we] do not see and the conviction of their reality [faith perceiving as real fact what is not revealed to the senses].” Hebrews 11v1 (AMP)
“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to His abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, To an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you” 1 Peter 1v3-4 (KJV)
Prayer
Father, we thank You for Your Word and pray that even as we trust in You, O God of hope, that You will fill us completely with joy and peace, and that we will abound, overflow, and bubble over with hope by the power of Your Holy Spirit in Jesus name, amen.
