Preserving our Emotions (2)

Hello everyone,

How are you doing on this day? I hope well and bubbling in the Lord.

Primary Text
“And may the God of peace Himself sanctify you through and through [separate you from profane things, make you pure and wholly consecrated to God]; and may your spirit and soul and body be preserved sound and complete [and found] blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ (the Messiah). “ 1 Thessalonians 5v23 (AMP)

Apart from certain emotions that we need to get rid of as believers, there are often other emotional states that come at us because of life. These could include discouragement, sorrow, grief, fear, anxiety, guilt and so on. God is concerned about all of these as well. Psalm 62v8 (AMP) says “Trust in, lean on, rely on, and have confidence in Him at all times, you people; pour out your hearts before Him. God is a refuge for us (a fortress and a high tower). Selah [pause, and calmly think of that]!” Beyond what anyone understands, God understands and knows what you are going through and would want to walk you through it. Hebrews 2v17-18 (TLB) says “And it was necessary for Jesus to be like us, His brothers, so that He could be our merciful and faithful High Priest before God, a Priest who would be both merciful to us and faithful to God in dealing with the sins of the people. For since He Himself has now been through suffering and temptation, He knows what it is like when we suffer and are tempted, and He is wonderfully able to help us.” Jesus is wonderfully able to help you through all you are going through. Hebrews 4v15-16 (AMP) says “For we do not have a High Priest who is unable to understand and sympathize and have a shared feeling with our weaknesses and infirmities and liability to the assaults of temptation, but One Who has been tempted in every respect as we are, yet without sinning. Let us then fearlessly and confidently and boldly draw near to the throne of grace (the throne of God’s unmerited favor to us sinners), that we may receive mercy [for our failures] and find grace to help in good time for ever need [appropriate help and well-timed help, coming just when we need it].”

Supplementary Text
“Casting the whole of your care [all your anxieties, all your worries, all your concerns, once and for all] on Him, for He cares for you affectionately and cares about you watchfully.” 1 Peter 5v7 (AMP)

Prayer
Why don’t you take some time to talk it (whatever it is) over with the Lord.
