What are you affectionate about?

Hello everyone,

How are you doing on this day? I hope well and bubbling in the Lord.

Primary Text
“If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God. Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth. For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God.” Colossians 3v1-3 (KJV)

Beloved, what are you affectionate about? What are you passionate about? What are you seeking for? What occupies your thoughts? What guides your actions? What is your affection set upon – things above or things on the earth? Do you care about the Lord, the things of the Lord, His return, the expansion of His Kingdom or do you find that what concerns you are primarily things on earth? 1 John 2v15-17 (KJV) says “Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world. And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever.” Beloved, are you concerned with the will of God, or do you find yourself entangled with the affairs of this life. Indeed we live in the world, but remember we are not of the world. How does this play out? Seeking the things above is in a sense living in the world, but being God-minded, God-focused, God-seeking and God-led! Hebrews 11 tells us of men and women of faith that lived before us, saying:

Supplementary Text
“These all died in faith, not having received the promises, but having seen them afar off, and were persuaded of them, and embraced them, and confessed that there were strangers and pilgrims on the earth. For they that say such things declare plainly that they seek a country. And truly, if they had been mindful of that country from whence they came out, they might have had opportunity to have returned. But now they desire a better country, that is, an heavenly: wherefore God is not ashamed to be called their God: for He hath prepared for them a city.” Hebrews 11v13-16 (KJV)

Prayer
Our Father in heaven, I thank You for Your Word this day. I bless Your holy name. Help me to love You with all my heart, soul, and strength in Jesus name, amen.
