The blessing in waiting
Hello everyone,
How are you doing on this day? I hope well and
bubbling in the Lord.
Primary Text
“It shall be said in that day, Behold our God
upon Whom we have waited and hoped, that He might save us! This is the Lord, we
have waited for Him; we will be glad and rejoice in His salvation.” Isaiah 25v9
(AMP)
Beloved, there is a blessing in waiting. To wait
on the Lord could mean hanging on to Him and taking a faith walk with Him
between one’s expectations, His promise and the fulfillment of it. It doesn’t
mean being passive but could actually involve taking certain steps. As a sister
of mine said, waiting on the Lord is a journey, and it is a journey based on
faith. During this period, God might speak to you, encourage you through His
Word, and through people. It is a time of trusting in Him, being fully
persuaded that what He promised, He is able also to perform (Romans 4v21). We
see the story of waiting on God in the life of Abraham and Sarah. We find that
sometimes we might try to “help” God, as they did by giving Hagar, Sarah’s
servant to Abraham to have a child. But I wonder if they had seen the end from
the beginning, they would have made that same decision. Waiting on the Lord is
a journey of trust. It takes moving beyond what you see, feel, and sometimes
understand to trusting in God absolutely! Waiting on God increases our strength
– it might not necessarily be physically but our spirit, mind, emotions and
will are strengthened. As we feed upon His Word, hold onto His promises, pray
to Him without fainting, we find ourselves growing stronger and stronger even
in the face of great adversities and trials. Waiting on God also breeds
intimacy and closeness to Him. It brings you closer to the point of total
dependence on Him, a place of – God it is You that I hold on to, I depend on, I
rely on, I wait on.
Supplementary Text
“No soul, wait only upon God and silently submit
to Him: for my hope and expectation are from Him.” Psalm 62v5 (AMP)
