Obedience to God

Hello everyone,

How are you doing on this day? I hope well and bubbling in the Lord.

Primary Text
“[Live] as children of obedience [to God]....” 1 Peter 1v14 (AMP)

I have heard holiness defined as obedience to God; for when you are obedient to God, other things fall into place. For example, you will live a life of purity, and avoid sinning. God loves obedience. In Deuteronomy 28v1, God told the children of Israel – “And it shall come to pass, if thou shalt hearken diligently unto the voice of the LORD thy God, to observe and to do all His commandments which I command thee this day, that the LORD thy God will set thee on high above all nations of the earth: ...” The chapter goes on to highlight all the blessings that come with obedience, and also the curses that accompany disobedience. It is not enough only to hear God’s Word, but we have to obey. James 1v22 (KJV) says “But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.” Many people acknowledge God as God; but not as King or Lord. The Lord is someone who must be obeyed. You can’t call Him Lord and King and not obey Him. Are you obedient to God, or playing half-obedience or the God understands game with Him? Yes, we sometimes talk things over with Him, and struggle and bring forth our strong reasons, but ultimately, He is God, and we should live as children of obedience to God. Even when it is difficult, or we don’t understand it, He understands your weakness, and you can come boldly to His throne of grace to ask for help to be obedient (Hebrews 4v15).

Supplementary Text
“And Samuel said, Hath the LORD as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, as in obeying the voice of the LORD? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, and to hearken than the fat of rams. For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, and stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry. Because thou hast rejected the word of the LORD, He hath rejected thee from being king.” 1 Samuel 15v22-23 (KJV)

Father, I thank You for Your Word. I sincerely apologize for everytime I have been disobedient to You. Forgive me Father. Grant me the grace to willingly do all of Your will, all of the time in Jesus name, amen.
